Flooding the Netherlands is a great solution! But why not realize then the flooding of the Yellow River, arranged by the rationalists in China in 1938? What is recognized as the largest act of environmental war.
"Surely our super high IQ warfare means we are winning more often now, right"
"So, uh"
Peak pre-precision regime
This is what mass or “statistical” warfare looked like at the extreme
Remember that virtually every round misses
The logic today is the reverse; many fewer rounds, but each round is much likelier to hit home
Statistical mass regime IQ is very low
Warfare today is (comparatively) high IQ
I voted for this
Game designer Richard Garriott has confirmed he will soon regain the rights to the influential RPG series Ultima from Electronic Arts.
"It means I could re-release the earlier Ultimas, but it also means I could sequel them."

French “austerity” in four charts: only 1/3 of the population is funding everyone else, government spending is the ~highest in Europe, public debt is through the roof, and retirees out-earn working people.

This is a positive example of "post-scarcity activity."
Because whooping cranes had disappeared from the eastern United States for over a century, captive-bred chicks had no wild adults to teach them the route south. To re-establish the flyway, pilots flew open-cockpit ultralight aircraft while wearing hooded crane costumes to serve as the birds' surrogate migratory parents.

French Presidential Candidate Jean-Luc Mélenchon:
They keep talking about "native French people."
Native to what? Christian roots? What exactly are these roots?
Half of people no longer live in the department they come from.
A process of creolization has already taken place among us French people, simply because we change places and adopt one another's jokes, tastes, cuisine and music.
All those dreaming of a static world are dreaming of something that no longer exists and will never exist again.

Not to dunk on the Harvard student who I think is directionally correct but a lot of these responses are overly intellectualized (‘we need more ethics’) while the cause of a lot of bad feelings and bad behavior is simply a mutual sociopathy that requires a lot of work culturally to be made better.
I’ll leave it to someone else to explain what women need to better understand about men, but men should understand that if a woman sleeps with you there’s a good chance she likes you and sees something in you, that she wants to be the object of your attention beyond the encounter, and if you don’t have interest or provide attention women will often feel hurt, or at least slighted, regardless of whether they feign indifference. Men and women have competing motivations and it’s obviously not possible to meet everyone’s expectations all the time, but it seems like the current culture is designed to manufacture frustration and disappointment among women. The therapy speak and ideological jargon women often employ to express themselves contribute to the confusion and mystify more than they explain, and my sense is women were more self aware of their preferences and better able to articulate themselves 10 or 15 years ago, but that’s just another reason that both an accurate psychology and acting with kindness (particularly to someone who is being affectionate towards you) are so important.
A senior at Harvard observes “a narrative emerging among young people that more than just consent is required to make a sex act ethical.”
“In the Cornell Daily Sun, a student says fraternities function as ‘a market, where women are seen as commodities.’”
“A Dartmouth contributor lambasts frat culture where brothers ‘humiliate and degrade’ and that teaches ‘men to treat women and each other like subhuman objects.’”
“The emerging picture is of a sexual ethic that cannot be satisfied simply by one liberal-autonomous agent assenting to the action of another. The new ethic requires upholding the dignity and respect of the human being involved. Respecting women is incompatible with drug-fueled orgies where the ‘shop’ is ‘open,’ regardless of how consensual said orgy may or may not be.”

"She had eyes like pools of water, and a snizz to match. Her labia like dunes hiding an oasis, glittering with the waters of life. I staggered towards it, towards her. Parched."
Capitalism doesn't expect anything, it's an abstract concept describing a system of economic relations

Through a philanthropy portfolio, you can achieve ideological immortality in a way that no human heir can promise (being stubbornly themselves & not you)
Charities make their money promising people like Buffett a kind of lichdom
There's a huge amount of confusion among the wealthy about the purpose of wealth.
If you think giving to others is disordered, and cheap money corrupts, why devote your life to giving shareholders passive returns?
Does he believe he is harming the recipients of his massive philanthropic programs? Or does he believe his own family are somehow different to the masses?
Does he not see that his own pregnant daughter is already making sacrifices for his family, and he'd merely be helping her in her virtue? Etc.
I really do believe the time for a revolution in the philosophy of wealth is nigh.
Ten years ago liberals were more or less unironically describing standup comedians as the new priesthood
