Katiba Institute’s founding vision was captured in the commitment to “Protect and promote the Constitution”. The founders understood that this objective required more than issuing statements in support of constitutional values. It demanded practical action to ensure that constitutional rights were respected, government obligations were enforced, and public institutions were held accountable. @Nairobi_Leo captures the founding of Katiba Institute and Its fight for constitutionalism nairobileo.co.ke/features/ar… #katibaInstituteAt15

Any person holding themselves out as a Cabinet Secretary is engaged in a coup against the Constitution. Starting today, any engagements or agreements executed by the current CS are illegal and void. Any public expenditure incurred by them is illegal and liable to a claim for recovery. Members of the public should be wary of dealings with the government and its cabinet entities, as they cannot claim ignorance as to it’s illegality. The Cabinet is unconstitutional and in light of our laws cannot exercise any functional authority on behalf of the Kenyan.

𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝟏𝟎𝟏: 𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐖𝐞 𝐍𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐧 𝐔𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐁𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐥𝐞𝐭 𝐀𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝟏𝟎 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 Since its publication in 2016, the booklet; 101 𝑻𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒔 𝒀𝒐𝒖 𝑾𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝑲𝒏𝒐𝒘 𝑨𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑷𝒐𝒍𝒊𝒄𝒆 𝑩𝒖𝒕 𝑾𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝑻𝒐𝒐 𝑨𝒇𝒓𝒂𝒊𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝑨𝒔𝒌 has played an important role in bridging the gap between the police and the public by promoting a better understanding of their respective rights, responsibilities, and obligations. However, Kenya’s policing landscape has evolved significantly over the past decade. Constitutional and legislative developments, alongside emerging concerns such as police brutality, enforced disappearances, sexual and gender-based violence, and technology-facilitated violence, underscore the need to revisit the booklet and ensure it remains relevant, accurate, and responsive to current realities. Today, Katiba Institute convened a breakfast meeting with representatives from Usalama, @Midrifthurinet , @IJMKenya , @IMLU_org , @nisisikenya, @MissingVoicesKE , and @CRECOKenya to reflect on the booklet’s impact, identify gaps, and discuss priorities for its review. The discussions centered on strengthening the booklet’s constitutional and human rights foundation, updating its legal references, and ensuring it remains a practical, accessible, and people-centered resource for public education and accountability. As we embark on this review, our goal is to ensure that Police 101 continues to empower citizens, promote accountability, and foster a better understanding of policing in a constitutional democracy. On livestreaming Bunge only needs a one-line amendment as follows: "IEBC shall, for verifiability, transparency, and to facilitate public information, establish a mechanism for the live-streaming of results as announced at each polling station." Yes, it is that simple!

As .@katibainstitute celebrates its 15th anniversary, Executive Director Nora Mbagathi explains why the institution was formed. "Katiba Institute was established after Kenya’s new Constitution came into force in 2010. It was set up in 2011 with the aim of entrenching constitutionalism," .@NoraMbagathi. #KatibaInstituteAt15
