FOUR TIMES, CORPORAL RICKY FURGUSSON MOVED TOWARDS WOUNDED COMRADES DESPITE THE THREAT OF FURTHER EXPLOSIONS. THEN AN IED TOOK BOTH HIS LEGS—BUT IT COULD NOT TAKE HIS DETERMINATION. From Telford in Shropshire, Ricky joined the British Army at approximately 16 years old and began training in September 2001. He initially served with the 2nd Battalion, The Royal Green Jackets. When The Rifles was formed in 2007, he transferred to its 4th Battalion. Ricky served in Northern Ireland and Iraq before deploying to Afghanistan in 2009. By then, he was a corporal and section commander with A Company, 4 RIFLES—responsible not only for leading his Riflemen, but for bringing them safely through some of the most dangerous territory in Helmand Province. His company operated in Sangin, where improvised explosive devices presented a constant and often hidden threat. During four separate incidents in late 2009, British soldiers were wounded by explosions. Each time, Ricky moved towards the casualties. Despite knowing that further devices might be waiting, he entered the danger area, provided emergency first aid and organised the evacuation of the wounded. His actions helped save lives, although one grievously injured soldier could not be saved. Ricky repeatedly placed the survival of his comrades before his own safety. Then, on 13 January 2010, the danger found him. While withdrawing from a compound in Sangin, Ricky triggered an explosive device concealed near the exit. The blast caused catastrophic injuries. He lost both legs above the knee, his left eye and five fingers. His face and head were also terribly wounded. Ricky spent weeks in intensive care and underwent numerous operations. What followed was a long and painful rehabilitation during which he had to rebuild his life and learn to walk using prosthetic legs. Yet less than eleven months after the explosion, he achieved something extraordinary. On 7 December 2010, Ricky walked forward using two sticks to receive the Military Cross from Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace. The decoration recognised the courage he had shown while repeatedly going to the aid of wounded comrades in Afghanistan. His name had been included in the Operational Honours and Awards List announced that September. But Ricky’s determination did not end with the investiture. In 2012, he carried the Olympic flame through Shropshire. Two years later, he competed at the inaugural Invictus Games—standing among fellow wounded service personnel who had refused to allow injury to define the limits of their lives. He also continued supporting other injured veterans, using his experience to help those beginning their own difficult journeys through recovery. Ricky’s Military Cross recognised what he did for others before he was wounded. Everything that followed revealed another form of courage: the determination to rebuild a life after losing so much. 🎖️ Corporal Ricky Furgusson MC — 4th Battalion, The Rifles. 🦿 A section commander who repeatedly risked his life for wounded comrades and then fought his own way back from devastating injuries. 🇬🇧 His courage in Sangin and determination throughout recovery will always command respect.

PLEASE RT….. 🚨WITNESS APPEAL – TEIGNMOUTH / SHALDON BEACH 🚨 This took place earlier today (27th July) at Shaldon Beach, Teignmouth, Devon. A member of the public reports seeing the man in the photo below pick up his dog and throw him against a stone wall multiple times. The witness states he then pinned the dog to the ground and punched him repeatedly, while the woman with him stood by and watched. According to the witness, this happened because the dog didn’t recall immediately and the man got his jeans wet retrieving him. If you recognise this man or the woman with him, please get in touch with the OP via the link below. . 😡 Please share — this dog needs to be protected. facebook.com/permalink.php?s…

Two days after Henry died Hampshire Police secretly recorded Digwa in a police van speaking Punjabi to his brother. Digwa admitted stabbing Henry. Discussed claiming self defence. Made zero mention of racial abuse. Not one word. Hampshire Police had that tape. They knew Digwa was lying about the racist attack. They had the evidence. They had his own words and then tried to smear Henry as the aggressor anyway. Three days after his death their statement read “it was reported two men had been assaulted by an unknown man.” Henry was the unknown man. The boy bleeding out on the street. They flipped it. Family complained. Statement changed. Then police told the family their NEXT update would again infer Henry was the initial aggressor. His family had to fight them a second time. While grieving their murdered son. Then during the trial Hampshire tried to issue a statement telling the public to stop talking about it online. Calling it disinformation. The CPS had to step in. Told them they were about to collapse their own murder case. This is the force that handcuffed a dying boy. Missed the murder weapon twice. Had a secret tape proving the killer lied. And still tried to bury Henry's name. That's not incompetence. That's a machine protecting itself. At the expense of a dead boy's reputation and three officers are still on active duty. Not suspended. Treated as witnesses. To their own actions. Hampshire Police didn't just fail Henry on that street. They kept failing him for six months after he died. - @Banksycat

Excl: An Army reservist who served on a Ukraine mission was denied paternity pay after HMRC ruled his deployment counted as a “break” from work. The soldier returned home, went back to work and became a dad weeks later - only to be told he wasn’t entitled to a penny. Campaigners warn the loophole could hit thousands of reservists - as Defence Secretary John Healey is understood to be looking at extending paternity leave across the Armed Forces. thesun.co.uk/news/39210276/r…

IN MEMORY ❤️ | It’s 13 years today since Lee Rigby was murdered. Our thoughts are with his family and friends. We will never forget our heroes 🇬🇧 His Mum has shared an emotional tribute via The The Lee Rigby Foundation page: “Becoming a Mum for the first time, I cried when I held you in my arms, and promised I would always look after you and protect you, not knowing 25 years on you would be cruelly murdered, and taken away from us. “Not being able to be by your side or say goodbye is the most heartbreaking journey that I have had to live with every single day.” RIP Lee. A British Hero. 🇬🇧❤️ You can read the full message by visiting the Lee Rigby Foundation page. #YourHerefordshire

I say boycott them! Do not use them they took money for the sake of greed over children and women being raped! Now we show them that we will not put more money in their pockets! Go elsewhere to hotels that stood firm! Give them your money instead! Who agrees?

This is the most satisfying news you’ll hear today ! Do you remember when a group of boys, strangers to each other, formed a human chain to save a dog from fast flowing water? Today, local authorities unveiled a “Unity Statue” at the same place to celebrate human unity.

Be careful with people who have HIGH FUNCTIONING DEPRESSION. Let's go through this together 👇👇 1. They get up, get dressed, go to work, and cry in silence when nobody’s watching. 2. They check on everybody else, but don’t feel safe asking for help themselves. 3. Their smile is practiced, their “I’m fine” is automatic, their breakdowns are private. 4. They appear to be okay, give solid advice, and hold everybody down, but when the world gets quiet, their thoughts get loud. 5. You think they’re okay because they’re productive, but they only stay busy to avoid feeling anything. 6. High functioning depression doesn’t look like laziness, it looks like overworking, overthinking, and never resting. 7. They keep it together in public, but fall apart in the shower, in traffic, or right before bed. 8. Just because they don’t say “I’m struggling” doesn’t mean they’re not drowning inside. 9. They apologize for being “too much” when they’ve really just been holding too much in. 10. They make everyone feel better, but go home feeling empty. So when someone says “check on your strong friends,” Do it. Because the ones who always say “I got it” are usually the ones who don’t. They suffer in silence. They laugh through pain. And they master how to function when they’re barely holding on. #endthestigma #mentalhealth #youmatter #SuicideAwareness #mentalhealthsupport
