Citation 1 (Kevin Phillips/NYT): Phillips' analysis was that more black voters registering as Democrats would push "Negrophobe whites" to the GOP. But...
The cited article reveals that this strategy WAS NOT used! Also, contrary to Phillips, Nixon's campaign continued to target black voters.
