I went to the market this evening to get a few things when I suddenly sighted one of my students who graduated two years ago selling okra.
Since I planned to buy okra, I went straight to her stand.
“Hi ma, good evening ma. Sure you’re doing great?” she said excitedly immediately she saw me.
“I’m good ooo.”
We talked briefly, then I told her to sell ₦1,000 worth of okra for me.
As she was packing it, I kept wondering why the okra was that much.
She tied the nylon and stretched her hand to give it to me.
I brought out ₦1k from my pocket.
She looked at me and said:
“Ahhh, ma! I thought you said ₦3,000 okra?”
“₦3k okra keh? Shey I wan feed my neighbours ni?”
She was already about to untie the nylon when shame catch me.
I quickly said, “Don’t worry, just bring it.”
I had to dash her another ₦2,000 to cover the shame.
Gave her ₦5k
I have been sharing okra with my neighbours since I came back from the market….
