Hello, AI still fucking sucks and you shouldn’t use it for art! Thank you goodbye.

At work yesterday a teen tried to pay for something with a $10 bill and all his friends made fun of him for having $10 and tbh it's been a long time since I was so genuinely bewildered

Look, I hate pushing people to vote for me, it’s why I’ve never run for office, but I love $13,000, which I can only promise not to spend on deeply needed city infrastructure. …maybe I should run for office. faceofhorror.org/2024/kat-le…

Scrolled past this while listening to "The Plague On Both Your Houses" by Blood Command and it rules how snugly it fit together

I don’t care if you’re “indie” or a “small brand”, if you use AI, I’m not giving your product a second look. I’m not going to your event advertised with AI. I’m not reading your book with an AI cover. I’m not eating at your restaurant you promote with AI. Pound sand

I think constantly about this post, re: AI evangelists who want to outsource the human experience to an algorithm:
Prediction: AI will displace social drinking within 5 years Just as alcohol is a social disinhibitor, like the Steve Martin movie Roxanne, people will use AI powered earbuds to help them socialize. At first we'll view it as creepy, but it will quickly become superior to alcohol

All of the usual criticism of Angel Hernandez aside... his *childhood dream* was to be an umpire?
Angel Hernandez: Starting with my first Major League game in 1991, I have had the very good experience of living out my childhood dream of umpiring in the major leagues.    There is nothing better than working at a profession that you enjoy.  I treasured the camaraderie of my colleagues and the friendships I have made along the way, including our locker room attendants in all the various cities.   I have decided that I want to spend more time with my family.   Needless to say, there have been many positive changes in the game of baseball since I first entered the profession.  This includes the expansion and promotion of minorities.  I am proud that I was able to be an active participant in that goal while being a Major League umpire.

Seriously, like for real please don’t pirate this. We worked hard to keep our TVOD (transactional video on demand) rights so the filmmakers get paid directly. We get 50% or so every time someone buys or rents on Amazon and Apple. Way more than any other option out there. If you really want indie film to exist this is the way to go.

Hell yea
You're offered $250,000,000 but to claim it you must enter the last video game you've played and stay there for a full year. If you accept the deal. how's life there?

My new year's resolution will be to drink more water. You know, to combat dehydration from all the fucking I'll be doing.

Tonight while hanging out with friends I mentioned many times that I conditioned today and yet not one of them ruffled my hair like I was a young boy in an episode of Walker: Texas Ranger

RIP Johnny Hardwick. King of the Hill is a beautiful show. It portrays deeply flawed characters who nonetheless are capable of great humanity. Dale's eccentricities and foibles were always matched against the immense unconditional love he had for his family.
