hank pym spent years explaining how dangerous and complicated pym particles were, yet by ant-man and the wasp, he was shrinking an entire laboratory building into something he could carry around like luggage. i still think the movie glossed over some serious questions about the limits of that technology.
The truth is that telling Howard Stark about his impending assassination in 1970 would have triggered an internal catastrophe inside S.H.I.E.L.D. that would have gotten Howard killed even faster.
In 1970, Hydra was already deeply entrenched inside the highest levels of S.H.I.E.L.D., operating right under Howard’s nose with Arnim Zola’s algorithms quietly running in the mainframe.
The moment Howard started probing security details, questioning super-soldier protocols, or canceling winter supply convoys, Hydra’s sleeper cells would have flagged him as a compromised liability.
Instead of an ambush in 1991, Hydra would have staged an “accident” in 1971 before baby Tony was even out of diapers. Tony knew S.H.I.E.L.D. was rotten to the core.
So giving his father a half-baked warning would have painted a target on his back decades ahead of schedule.
In the comics, Ebony Maw actually does manipulate and betray Thanos, but he never does it by challenging him to a stand-up fistfight.
Maw’s true superpower has never been raw muscle; it’s whispered psychological manipulation, espionage, and operating as a parasite behind thrones.
He stayed obedient on screen because gathering six cosmic singularities requires an intergalactic armada, warfleets, thousands of Outriders, and an undisputed warlord to draw all the aggro from the Avengers, Asgardians, and Nova Corps.
Serving Thanos was the ultimate camouflage: Thanos took every spear, repulsor blast, and cosmic target to his chest, while Maw sat safely in the shadows directing tactical strikes without bearing the target on his own back.
