A child saved, a family lost, a legacy that warns us not to make the same mistakes.
With #Refugee #FamilyReunion now restricted, we must remember the human cost of separation, and our responsibility to prevent it.

Hey @RachelReevesMP 👋
Budget day & looking for growth? Fix the asylum system. Refugees could contribute far more through taxes if we removed the barriers holding them back.
The economic case is clear: togetherwithrefugees.org.uk/…
📣 The Government has announced cruel new policies that risk eroding refugees' rights.
We’re fighting back with a message of our own. We stand #TogetherWithRefugees

A new report, to be launched in parliament tomorrow, suggests refugees could bring over £260k each to the UK economy.
The @LSEnews report, commissioned by #PCS and @RefugeeTogether suggests a range of policy changes which would enable refugees to contribute to the UK economy and be self-sufficient more quickly.

Britain’s asylum system is broken - uncaring, chaotic & costly. But it doesn’t have to be this way.
On the day the Government announces plans to erode asylum rights, new research by us & @pcs_union by @LSEEcon shows a fairer system could help refugees & boost the economy
🧵
The impact? For every refugee:
💷 £266,000 added to the UK economy
🏠 £42,000 saved on accommodation
💰 £53,000 net benefit to the public purse
📈 Every £1 spent = £9 in salary gains
A fair, humane asylum system isn’t just right - it’s smart economics.
Let refugees rebuild their lives, and Britain will thrive too.
