This farm in upstate New York almost had a data center move in right next door, but then NY got the first statewide data center moratorium in the country. We went with @AOC and @GovKathyHochul to talk to farmers who are thrilled the data center wasn't built, and who are still on alert for what happens when the moratorium expires.

This afternoon in Marble Hill, a New Yorker was shot by an ICE agent in a residential neighborhood. Early reports indicate agents surrounded him and a 5-year-old child in his car before firing multiple rounds. We believe the child was physically unharmed. This is an unconscionable and incredibly serious situation. I have called the President; when we speak I will demand that he ends all ICE enforcement actions in our city. I will not stand by while ICE agents terrorize our communities. Our thoughts are with the injured New Yorker and his family tonight. We are praying for his recovery. Get ICE out of our neighborhoods. Get ICE out of our hospitals. Get ICE off our streets. Get ICE away from our children. Abolish ICE.

NEWS: I am proud to introduce the Restoring Essential Plan Coverage Act with @RepAOC. This bill would reverse Donald Trump's funding cuts to the NY Essential Plan and restore health care coverage for hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers.  Donald Trump will stop at nothing to rip insurance away from as many people as possible. @RepAOC and I have a plan to beat him:

Settlers are driving Palestinians from their homes in a violent land grab. Sanctions can stop it. I'm introducing legislation—alongside Reps. Dean, Beyer, Casar, Jacobs, Escobar—that imposes sanctions against anyone looking to take Palestinian land in the West Bank or Gaza. Under the Stop the Settlements Act, anyone pursuing settlements can’t do business with the United States. In addition, thank you to all of the my colleagues who are co-sponsoring this bill: Rep. TRAVEL ADVISORY: Hey New Yorkers, a nor’easter is on the way! 🌧️💨 If you don’t have to travel, stay home and avoid unnecessary trips. Starting around 2 p.m., strong wind gusts could bring down trees and power lines. Coastal flooding is expected to begin tonight and could be worst Saturday morning, especially in the Rockaways, around Jamaica Bay, and along Staten Island’s coast. If you live in a basement or low-lying area, know your exits and be prepared to move to higher ground if water starts rising.

A Coastal Flood Warning is in effect for certain coastal areas in NYC from 9/25-9/27. NYers living in basement apartments should be prepared to move to higher ground or a higher floor if flooding occurs. STAY OUT of flooded basements. Call 311 if you encounter flooding that makes roads impassable, damages property, or persists for more than 48 hrs.

Patients want to know that decisions about their health care are being made by doctors, not by Wall Street investors. If we’re going to lower costs and un-rig the health care system, we need to stop the corporate takeover of medicine. I’ve got a bill to get the job done.

HUGE: Elizabeth Warren, AOC, and other members of Congress have introduced a bill to push private equity out of healthcare. The Stop Corporate Takeovers of Physicians Act would make it illegal for private equity, insurance companies, and other for-profit corporations to own or control medical practices. It would also close state-level loopholes that private equity firms have snuck through, prohibit corporate interference with clinical decisions, and more.

Our healthcare systems should serve the best interests of patients, not corporations. That’s why I introduced the Stop Corporate Takeovers of Physicians Act with @RepAOC and @RepSuhas to ensure proper protections are in place, so that corporations and VC firms can't take over local clinics and physician groups.
