Proud dad. Resident of Lewiston. Raised in Leeds and trained in the Marines. U.S. Congressman putting Mainers first.

Joined January 2019
For as long as I've been in Congress, I have opposed efforts to cut LIHEAP and worked across the aisle to ensure adequate home heating assistance is available to keep Mainers warm in our long, cold winters. With heating oil prices at record highs, Mainers are feeling the pinch like never before. I will support any effort to increase LIHEAP funding in a supplemental appropriation this year.

To cut electricity costs, we need to generate more domestic energy & build transmission lines to get it to homes & businesses. The Bipartisan American Affordability and Jobs Act of 2026 builds on my bill with @repwesterman to get shovels in the ground. The Senate should pass it🧵

The BAAJA will also create more certainty in the energy industry. As I fought for in the House, this deal includes a provision to prevent any president from pulling the plug on projects approved under their predecessor.

When we get back to Washington in November, I look forward to working with my colleagues to get this bill across the finish line and to the President’s desk.

Dental care is healthcare. Plain and simple. Yet those who served our country, and now live in remote or rural communities, often struggle to access reliable dental care. That’s why I’m teaming up with @RepJackBergman, @Congressman_JVD and @RepDonDavis to help vets who aren’t able to afford or access a dentist get the care they need. I’m confident this first step will do a lot of good.

Thrilled to see nurses at my local hospital, Central Maine Medical Center, vote to unionize. Nurses banding together won’t just mean better working conditions for them, but better care for our community. Unfortunately, 20 nurses were fired or suspended during the union drive. As @chelliepingree and I wrote to Prime Healthcare, the hospital's owner, anti-union retaliation and intimidation are illegal. I call on hospital management to swiftly recognize the union and bargain in good faith. I’m heartened to know that now that they’ve won their union, nurses will begin organizing not only for themselves and their patients, but to reinstate any workers wrongfully punished for exercising their rights. Congratulations again to the nurses in Lewiston on winning their union!

For generations, lobstering has supported Maine families and supplied our economy. On National Lobster Day, we celebrate not only Maine’s most iconic dish but also the extraordinary men and women who work hard to keep this industry alive.

Grateful to Maine’s @SenatorCollins and @SenAngusKing for continuing the push to protect Maine’s hardworking lobstermen from unnecessary regulations that threaten their livelihoods and their way of life. I’m proud we passed my Northeast Lobstermen Protection Act in the House, and optimistic about getting it through the Senate this year. wabi.tv/2026/09/16/maine-sen…

Every barrel of Russian oil sold on the global market is funding for Vladimir Putin’s war of aggression against Ukraine. Knowing this, I voted today to provide new tools to cut off the oil revenue that’s greasing Russia’s war machine, including new sanctions and tariffs on the top buyers of Russian energy and those countries helping the federation evade existing sanctions. Twenty-five years ago today, our nation endured the deadliest foreign attack on American soil. Today, we hold in our hearts the thousands who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, their families and loved ones. Their memory will not be forgotten. We also honor those who ran toward danger in the wake of the attacks, from the first responders who rushed without question to Lower Manhattan to the generation who answered the call to defend our nation. That day, Americans joined together, resolute in the face of those who brought terror to our shores. As we remember those lost and those forever changed on 9/11, let us also remember that a united America can never be outmatched and that no shadow of fear or terror can dim our spirit.
