Tennessee — I get why being “open for business” matters, but @MarshaBlackburn’s pro-growth mindset is a turn off for me.
No income tax. No state property tax. Those are real advantages.
But after the wave of people moving here the last decade (especially during Covid), we also need to protect what makes our state worth moving to in the first place.
That happens at the LOCAL LEVEL!
Planning commissions, school boards, zoning boards, and county commissions decide what gets built, how dense it gets, and whether we preserve the character of our communities or slowly turn into the places people left.
Leftists and Muslims have been effective at joining these local boards and commissions, building influence from the bottom up and advancing their priorities through the system.
Conservatives need to match that engagement!!!
Show up. Speak up. Get on those boards and commissions.
A lot of the growth and policy shifts people are complaining about get approved with almost no opposition because regular residents aren’t in the room.
We can still grow.
We just don’t have to keep selling our state out in the process!!!

Are lobbyists who work to limit or prevent competition immoral?
Francisco d'Anconia's speech on money in Atlas Shrugged is the most economically literate passage in twentieth-century fiction.
The speech runs about 2,000 words in the novel. Francisco delivers it at a party, surrounded by parasites who just declared money the root of all evil. He corrects them with surgical precision. Money is not the root of evil. It is the tool that makes voluntary exchange possible, the ledger of honest production, the only mechanism by which you trade your mind's output for someone else's.
The core claim is this: money requires production. You cannot print your way to wealth any more than you can vote yourself a harvest. Every dollar bill in your wallet represents a claim on someone's actual labor, actual material, actual time. The moment a government prints currency without corresponding production, it dilutes every existing claim. It robs you quietly, without a gun visible in the room.
Francisco puts it cleanly: "Money is a tool of exchange, which can't exist unless there are goods produced and men able to produce them." That sentence alone dismantles three centuries of mercantilist confusion. Wealth is production. Currency is merely the signal that coordinates its exchange.
The speech also destroys the "love of money is greed" cliché. Francisco distinguishes between those who earn money through trade and those who acquire it through force or fraud. A man who builds a railroad and charges willing passengers operates on an entirely different moral plane from a lobbyist who gets a competitor regulated out of existence. Rand drew that line in 1957. Washington D.C. has spent the intervening 69 years blurring it.
What the speech predicts is decay. When a society starts treating producers as servants of non-producers, capital goes quiet. Factories don't get built. Entrepreneurs stop announcing their plans. You see this in every hyperinflationary episode, from Weimar Germany in 1923 to Zimbabwe in 2008 to Argentina today, still fighting inflation. Production retreats when the rewards of production get expropriated.
Read the speech slowly. Exchange requires two parties who each gain something. Force produces one winner and one loser, and eventually the loser stops playing. The whole global economic order rests on which model you choose to enforce.

Tennessee Democrats’ voting record: a recap 🎬
Tennessee deserves leaders who say YES to teachers, keep kids safe, get men out of girls' sports, and protect taxpayers. Check their voting record, then check your ballots. #TNLeads 💪 @CSexton25 @WilliamLamberth @JasonZacharyTN @repmarkcochran
Who is this person?
A leftist social worker in Knoxville, Tenn. named Elisabeth Spencer Pitts is pressuring the city council to take down its Halloween ghost decorations because she believes it looks like a white supremacist lynching.
The last documented American lynching was 45 years ago, but leftists continue to spread hoaxes that black s—icides and things that resemble knots and nooses are evidence of lynchings. ngocomment.com
The greatest heist in world history...
Seven men boarded a private railroad car in New Jersey on the night of November 22, 1910, under fake names, and by the time they reached Jekyll Island, Georgia, they had begun drafting the legislation that would hand control of American money to the banks that needed controlling.
Nelson Aldrich organized the trip. He was a Rhode Island senator, the father-in-law of John D. Rockefeller Jr., and the chairman of the National Monetary Commission. He brought Paul Warburg of Kuhn, Loeb and Company, Frank Vanderlip of National City Bank, Henry Davison of J.P. Morgan and Company, and a handful of other men whose combined institutions held one-quarter of the world's investable wealth. They told no one. They used first names only on the island. The servants who staffed the Jekyll Island Club were replaced before arrival.
The cover story, once the trip leaked years later, was that these men gathered to reform a broken banking system for the public good. How generous of them.
They built a cartel with a government badge. The Federal Reserve would act as a lender of last resort, meaning your tax dollars and your inflated purchasing power would backstop the riskiest decisions made by the largest banks. Smaller banks, those that competed with Morgan and Rockefeller institutions, would face reserve requirements Washington enforced on their behalf. Credit expansion, which produces the boom-bust cycle you live through every decade, would now operate through a centralized mechanism immune from market discipline.
Warburg, who had spent years lobbying for a European-style central bank in America, drafted the core structure. Aldrich carried it to Congress. Congress passed it as the Federal Reserve Act on December 23, 1913, after many members had already left Washington for Christmas recess.
The scheme operated through rhetorical genius. They named it a reserve system, implying caution. They called it federal, implying public ownership. A private banking cartel now possessed the legal authority to manufacture money. You have been paying the interest on that arrangement ever since.

My coworker spent one year in Tennessee.
He came back to Tokyo two months ago.
He is not the same man.
He says "y'all" in meetings. To our boss.
He holds the door for the entire floor. Twelve people. Every morning.
He asked the convenience store clerk how her day was going. She had to sit down.
He calls every man "bud." Including the CEO.
He refuses to describe anything under three hours away as "far."
He waves at drivers who let him cross. One driver waved back and almost hit a pole.
Last week, he told a junior employee, "I'm proud of you."
She went to the restroom and cried for ten minutes.
We thought it would wear off.
It didn't. It's spreading.
Three people in accounting now say "y'all."
The junior employee holds the door.
The convenience store clerk asks HIM how his day is going.
Tennessee, I don't know what you did to him.
Please do it to the rest of us.
Marsha Blackburn is the one and only Republican in this race.
This will be a long Post but I believe Republicans who are undecided between Blackburn or Hatley should read it.
Many have criticized the Tenn Republican Party for nominating the WRONG candidate. They don't like Blackburn. She's too old, a RINO, a swamp rat, etc.
They are wrong, but that is not my concern.
You need to know something about party politics.
The Republican Party.
Their job is NOT to find someone you like. Read that again. Their job is NOT to find someone you like.
Instead, their job is to find someone who is electable. Someone who can win. Someone who has demonstrated MANY times that she can win.
Marsha Blackburn has won 11 general elections over her 28 year political career. She is a national name, she is a state name. That's who the party picked. And don't forget, the party picked her because Tennessee voted for her in the primaries.
Now let's talk about David Hatley. David Hatley seems like a good guy, he's a successful businessman. Alot of people I like are for him. I get it. But there is a huge problem with David. He has not won even one race.
There is a bigger problem. He's only polling 12%. But though he can't win, he might get Jerri Green elected.
In fact Jerri Green's BEST chance of getting elected is David Hatley. Hatley has narrowed Blackburn's lead over Green into low double digits. And it is known that most of Hatley's support is coming right out of Blackburn's vote count.
Is this risky? Yes. Does Hatley care? I don't believe he does. No one on his team, including him, has indicated they care if he hands the election to Green.
There is precedent for this kind of upset.
Republican Ross Perot handed Democrat Bill Clinton the presidency in 1992.
Republican Curtis Sliwa handed Socialist Mamdani the NYC Mayor's race in 2026.
Did they care? No. They did not care because for them it was a personal brand building exercise, and it gave them a sense of power--hell--not just a sense, they WERE powerful. They threw major elections. They are in the history books, forever.
My point is this. David Hatley cannot win. No candidate in US history has covered enough ground from where Hatley is now to win an election.
But he can be a spoiler. A vote for Hatley is a vote for Green.
Only YOU the voter can stop him. And the only way to do that is to vote for Marsha Blackburn.
Uhh, wait a minute! Isn't this the guy who skeedaddled his band out of Ireland when it proposed increasing taxes on artists, such as U2? @U2

Premise:
Incentives drive all human behavior.
The corollary:
How to destroy a country:
A vast social security and support system that serves as a magnet for those who would rather not work.
An open immigration policy that does not screen immigrants to determine their ability and willingness to provide for themselves and their families.
An open immigration policy that does not screen for political and/or religious ideologies that are a threat to the country.
Economic incentives large enough to incentivize immigrants on the state dole to have large numbers of children, but insufficient for educated and economically productive mothers to be able to quit to raise a family.
The declining fertility of the most educated and productive women due to their delay to begin a family as a result of their desire and/or need to advance their careers, among other reasons, to live a life they deem consistent with their educational achievements and/or to repay their student debts.
Amnesty programs that give citizenship and voting power to illegal immigrants without consideration of their economic productivity or their threat to the country due to their religious or political ideologies.
The changing demographics and increased population due to the above factors.
The state responding to protests by increasing social support.
The continued failure to punish and hold accountable violent and looting rioters.
Government managed by a massive and growing unelected bureaucracy.
Government fraud, waste, and abuse contributed to ballooning budgets.
Anti-business legislation that makes it difficult for businesses to compete in a global marketplace being disrupted by AI, including restrictions on firing even poorly performing employees.
Overly burdensome, globally uncompetitive, corporate taxation.
Continuous increases in personal taxes to raise funds to provide for the rapidly growing welfare state.
The substantial majority of the tax burden levied on a small percentage of the population.
A growing percentage of the electorate paying no taxes and receiving welfare.
The introduction or threat of a wealth tax including the taxation of unrealized gains, i.e., taxes on paper wealth.
The flight of the most productive business builders and highest taxpayers to lower tax countries with lesser security concerns.
A growing percentage of the electorate voting for candidates that support increased welfare and laws favorable to, and/or that match the cultural and ideological needs and desires of a growing unproductive immigrant population.
The rapid rise in anti-semitism and inadequate efforts to address this hatred.
Increased borrowing by the state to fund the growing social burden.
Higher sovereign interest rates due to all of the above.
The resulting need to reduce expenditures to make the math work.
Increasingly violent protests that make life less livable for the productive and law abiding citizens leading to their accelerated departure.
And so on…
Dirty deeds done dirt cheap.

.@TNDAGC supports Amendment 1 because our district attorneys see firsthand how the TN constitution limits the ability to deny bail except in cases for the death penalty. State law cannot change the words of the constitution, Amendment 1 allows judges the discretion to deny bail for violent crimes as well, like 2nd degree murder, and aggravated child rape. I stand with the prosecutors on the front lines of protecting Tennessee families. If we are serious about crime, then Vote Yes on Amendment 1 - Give our judicial system the tools they need to keep our communities safe.
Ok, sharing this with the Democrats in my life...
My post about France went viral. Thousands of likes. Many Americans told me: "Democrats aren't socialists. America will never be France." I want to answer that seriously, step by step.
Start with a simple observation. Look at what has gotten cheaper in America over the last 25 years: TVs, phones, software, clothes, toys. Now look at what has exploded: college tuition, healthcare, childcare, housing.
What separates the two lists? The first lives in competitive markets. The second is exactly where government is most involved: subsidies, mandates, licensing, zoning, regulation.
College. Washington lends students almost unlimited money. Universities know the money will always come, so they raise tuition and hire more administrators. The student pays the bill for twenty years. More government money, higher prices.
Housing. Why can't a nurse buy a home in the city where she works? Not because of capitalism. Because of zoning laws, permits, environmental reviews, years of procedure to build a single building. The most expensive places to live in America are the places where it's hardest to build. When building is nearly illegal, prices explode.
Healthcare. The patient almost never sees the price. A third party pays, regulations limit who can compete, and costs climb year after year with no one able to say no.
So here is the trap. The problems you suffer from are not the failure of free markets. They are the places where the market has already been replaced by the state. And the solution you're being offered is more of the same.
That's the Trojan horse. It always works the same way. A real problem. A generous-sounding promise. A program that makes things worse. Then the failure of that program becomes the argument for the next one. People who lived under communism in Poland learned to recognize the lie and the mask the lie wears. The lie never presents itself as a lie. It presents itself as compassion.
In France we are at the end of that road. Debt we can never repay. Young people who can't afford a home. Our best people leaving. And every few years our cities burn. Nobody voted for this. They voted for one more generous promise, fifty years in a row.
If you're a Republican, share this with the Democrat in your life. Not to win an argument. To start a conversation.
If you're a Democrat, I'm not asking you to switch teams. I'm asking you to look at the pattern. Wherever the state took over, life became unaffordable. Don't fix the failures of government with more government.
Stay American. Ask for less state, not more.
Congratulations sir!!

About a decade later, Estonia, a former Soviet republic, adopted a flat tax, and today it has more startup unicorns per capita than any other country in Europe.
Yesterday, that economist won the Nobel Prize in Economics. 🧵
