This afternoon, I attended a meeting about the Chartiers Creek Watershed Study. The study will look at flood mitigation, controlling water and protecting infrastructure. Representatives from the @PittsburghUSACE and the @spcregion briefed members of the General Assembly on project updates and next steps. In addition, there was a question and answer period.

This morning, I spoke at the ribbon cutting for Franklin Crossroads Park in North Franklin Township. The 100,000-square-foot retail phase of this adaptive-reuse redevelopment site is now open. The second phase will convert more than 350,000 square feet into a modern business park for light industrial, warehousing, advanced manufacturing, research and development, and flex users. It’s great to see properties redeveloped rather than building on untouched land, since existing waterlines and utilities can be used and valuable green space is preserved.

This morning, I met with Anne Davis and her daughter, Jamie, with Horses with Hope: Discover, Growth and Learning Programs. The program, founded by Anne, works to assist individuals with special needs and veterans reach beyond their abilities, and allow daily successes and milestones to be accomplished through a partnership developed by the rider and horse. It was great to sit down with Anne and Jamie to learn more about the organization.

Property tax frustration isn't unique to Pennsylvania. My Republican colleagues and I have a six-bill Property Tax Reform Package that would limit government spending and require voter approval for excessive county and school property tax increases. Rising property taxes don't just affect seniors on fixed incomes. They also place an additional financial burden on first-time homebuyers struggling in this housing crisis. Link below👇
“I’m old. I’ve paid my home off,” said Ray Warner, a 72-year-old Akron resident. “Why would I pay property tax?” Across the country, homeowners are asking the same question and revolting against property taxes at a scale not seen in a half century. politico.com/news/magazine/2…

Tim O’Neal (R-Washington) today announced he is spearheading a six-bill legislative package aimed at addressing Pennsylvania’s growing property tax burden, improving school district accountability and giving homeowners greater control over the taxes they pay. Four other colleagues from across the state have joined him in introducing these bills: Reps. Marc Anderson (R-York), Jack Rader (R-Monroe), Ryan Warner (R-Fayette) and Ann Flood (R-Northampton). Tim O’Neal (R-Washington), Republican whip, today joined other members of House Republican leadership in penning a letter to Attorney General Dave Sunday calling for his office to investigate the School District of Philadelphia (SDP) for discrimination against Jewish students. “All children should have equal access to education,” O’Neal said. “The reports of alleged behavior by teachers and administrators are alarming. Antisemitism has no place in our society but especially in the classroom. All students should have a safe learning environment and not feel uncomfortable due to their race or religion.” The letter asks Sunday to have his Civil Rights Enforcement Section investigate whether a systemic pattern of discrimination against Jewish students exists in the SDP that consequently prevents these students from equal access to education. In addition, the letter asks Sunday’s office to determine if potential violations of the Pennsylvania Crimes Code have occurred in the SDP, including, but not limited to, ethnic intimidation and harassment. In 2025, the chairman of the U.S. House of Representatives’ Education and Workforce Committee launched an investigation into three school districts, including SDP, after receiving reports of Jewish students being harassed and subjected to open antisemitism in classrooms and hallways. A year earlier, SDP settled a federal discrimination case with the U.S. Department of Education after students allegedly taunted Jewish classmates. Despite this settlement, a video circulated in 2025 shows an SDP administrator blaming Israel for the Oct. 7, 2023, massacre of Israeli civilians. In addition, teachers in the school district have been using pro-Palestinian materials. “It’s obvious the School District of Philadelphia is not taking antisemitism seriously,” O’Neal added. “Parents have even complained to Gov. Josh Shapiro to no avail. I encourage the attorney general to use his resources to ensure a safe learning environment for all.” A copy of the letter is available at bit.ly/4hBvTfj. # # #

🎉 Great News! The secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Health today withdrew proposed Department of Health regulations reminiscent of COVID lockdown-era government policy that would have infringed upon constitutional norms and civil liberties.

Yesterday, I joined The Dom Giordano Program – Talk Radio 1210 WPHT to discuss the Speaker of the House’s recent remarks on 9/11, wherein she alluded to 9/11 and potentially future terrorist attacks being caused by Republican policies.   Leadership comes with a higher standard, and the office of Speaker carries a responsibility to represent the entire House with judgment and restraint.   On the eve of the 25th anniversary of September 11th, that standard was not met. The Speaker’s remarks crossed a line, and the Pennsylvania House should say so clearly. That is why I am asking my House colleagues to join me in formally condemning her remarks. 🎧Listen here: reponeal.com/Audio/LatestAud…

Tim O’Neal (R-Washington), who serves as the Republican Whip and issued this statement: “The 25th anniversary of 9/11 is a moment to remember the victims and honor the first responders who ran toward danger that day. Using that moment to pivot into ‘the brutality of this federal government’ and to tie acts of terrorism to policy disagreements is offensive to say the least. The Speaker of the House inferring that Americans brought this disaster or other future attacks onto themselves is an outrage and a spit in the face to those who lost loved ones that day. “As a combat veteran of the War on Terror, I am deeply offended. American democracy has changed the world for the better, and I am proud to have stood beside many patriots who fought to protect this country from those who sought to harm it. “In the near future, I will be circulating a resolution to officially condemn Speaker McClinton’s remarks. I call on all of my colleagues in the House of Representatives to join me. The acts of terror on Sept. 11, 2001, were attacks on the very values and beliefs that make America great, not a justified response to politics. To think otherwise is dangerous and only contributes to rising political tensions across the country.” # # #

This evening, I had the honor of speaking on behalf of the House Republican Caucus as part of a historic session of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. In honor of the nation’s 250th birthday – and the foundational role Pennsylvania has played in our nation’s development – the House convened a legislative session in Philadelphia’s historic Congress Hall. The hall once served as the meeting place of the United States Congress, from 1790-1800. Watch my full remarks ⤵️

Did you miss the internet safety seminar I co-hosted last month and are a @canon_mac parent? If so, Canon-McMillian is hosting a similar program on Wednesday, Oct. 7, at 6 p.m. in its middle school auditorium.
