The breadth of support for the Right to Worship Act is deeply humbling. So many groups recognize the horrifying reality that the threat to the freedom to worship is not unique to any one faith or congregation. Our Right to Worship Act is for everyone, and I'm proud to stand with such a broad coalition of faith leaders united behind this essential legislation.

Today, 5.5 million Jewish, Christian, and, notably, Arab Israelis participated in the only democracy in the Middle East. This was the highest turnout the country has seen in nearly 3 decades. While we won’t know the final results tonight, today’s elections could make history, with Arab parties projected to win 18 seats, up from the 10 they hold currently. These projections reflect the importance of strong democracies. I will continue to stand up for Israel and champion a strong U.S.-Israel relationship in Congress. The elections in Israel today are a further reminder of the shared values of our two nations. Am Yisrael Chai.

Yesterday evening, I joined more than 300 residents at North Shore Towers, where I and several fellow public officials addressed their concerns about New York City’s Local Law 97 and its impact on co-op affordability. Co-op residents across Queens face serious affordability challenges under a law that places an unfair financial burden on homeowners. We need realistic timelines, reasonable implementation, and meaningful financial assistance. Protecting our environment and keeping housing affordable must go hand in hand. Co-op residents should not be forced to choose between making environmental improvements and affording their homes. It's time for the City to make Local Law 97 workable and affordable for co-op communities.

A ribbon cutting with a mission! Great to celebrate the opening of Mission Market’s new shop in Whitestone! This wonderful @QSAC initiative gives students with autism the opportunity to sell handmade products, manage a storefront, and gain valuable job skills and independence. Thanks to Healing Pharmacy for donating the space, and congratulations to the entire QSAC and Mission Market team for helping build a more inclusive community!

It’s never too early to spread a little holiday cheer! Great to join the U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots kickoff at Miller’s Ale House in Levittown! I was also proud to honor USMC Major Chuck Kilbride, whose over 30 years of dedication to Toys for Tots has helped bring smiles to thousands of young faces. Thanks to Chuck, the Marines, volunteers, and everyone helping make the holidays brighter for children in need. 🎁

ROAD TO 250: Long Island & Queens Legacies Today marks the 315th birthday of Jupiter Hammon, born into slavery in 1711 at Lloyd Manor in present-day Lloyd Harbor. He went on to become America's first published Black poet, leaving a remarkable legacy that deserves to be remembered. Back in 2020, I had the opportunity to visit historic Joseph Lloyd Manor, where Hammon lived and wrote for much of his life. As part of our Road to 250, there's no better time to celebrate his life and contributions to American history. Join Preservation Long Island this weekend at Joseph Lloyd Manor for a celebration of Hammon's life and legacy, with free guided tours on Saturday and special programming on Sunday. See the flyer for details!

In Bayside, a tough problem has led to something positive: neighbors are out on the sidewalk talking, getting to know each other better, and starting fresh. Thank you to the residents, local officials, the Public Administrator, the DA, and the Sheriff who worked with us to get this done.

Another senseless shooting at an elementary school, this time the Silver Rail Elementary School in Oregon. We have a responsibility to keep our children safe. The victims’ families and the entire Bend community deserve common sense gun violence prevention. newsday.com/news/nation/oreg…

The disturbing reports of a planned mass shooting targeting a Hindu place of worship demands us all to stand up for the ideals of our country. All men and women are created equal. Hatred has no place in America. Everyone deserves to live and worship in peace, without fear. I will continue to battle for that fundamental right. When leaders use divisive rhetoric that demonizes people based on their race, religion, or background, they destroy our nation. Those in positions of influence must bring people together, not divide us. cbsnews.com/chicago/news/pal…

Protecting Long Island's water has always been one of my top priorities. I've worked to bring federal funding back to our district to clean up our bays, improve wastewater infrastructure, and remove harmful forever chemicals from our drinking water. Between 2024 and 2026, nearly 6 million oysters were planted in Manhasset Bay, Hempstead Harbor, and Oyster Bay/Cold Spring Harbor using federal funding I secured. That includes 2 million oysters in Manhasset Bay alone! I've also secured $1.092 million for wastewater improvements that will help protect Manhasset Bay, and millions more to help local water districts address PFAS contamination. Clean water is essential to our health, our environment, and our quality of life. I'll keep fighting to bring our federal tax dollars home to protect it. newsday.com/long-island/envi…
