We say “no one is above the law.” Problem is we say it about folks who we treat like they are above the law. Quoting Gran:”Sayin’ don’t make it so.”
As the day inches toward “quitting time,” I find myself anticipating people returning home. The realization that no one will be returning to me is distressing. Everyone is gone except my son and I try not to let him fully see how lonely I am.
I am weary of posts chastising me for not meeting fund raising goals I didn’t set. I am tired of posts proclaiming "this changes everything’” but nothing changes. Ditto of claims that all that is needed is $3.00, etc.
I am
So tired of emails from rich and/or famous asking me to give money. It’s worse when they use my name like we are chums.
Sometimes getting older feels like going through your home and turning out the lights one room at a time.
My country
‘‘’Tis of thee
Sweet Land of Liberty
Of thee I sing.
Land of the Pilgrim’s Pride
Land where my Fathers died
From every mountain side,
Let Freedom ring.
My Dear Friends,
On the eve of what I hope history remembers as the Great Voting Booth Revolution of 2026, I want you to know that although it has been digital, standing shoulder to shoulder w/ you has been a source of hope & strength in these these troubled times.
Thank you.
I’m not looking for “luxury” living in these final years. Safe, inviting, comfortable, convenient, attractive, well equipped, yes. But I don’t need “luxury.” Especially since what is being called “luxury “in senior housing these days seems often to be more “faux luxury.”
I have so much I need to do - cleaning,, organizing, appointments to make (haircut, doctors, etc), medicare and financial decisions to make, deadlines to meet, etc. And I just can’t make myself to do it. It’s like I have run out of gas and my engine does not give a sputter.
I spent a lifetime meeting deadlines, filling out forms, going to training, estimating past, summarizing current, forecasting future.
1 am 80 and my life I’m still on the same treadmill. I won’t be surprised if I have to fill out quarterly reports from the grave.

There is a big push to privatize the Medicare system. Aside from the many advantages of traditional Medicare, keeping it out of the hands of private insurance companies is a big incentive. That said, dental and vision coverage should be more universal.
