The box score tells you who’s scoring. SQ PPP tells you who should be. πŸ“Š SQ PPP is ShotQuality’s expected points per possession. We grade the quality of every shot a team takes, so we can separate real offense from shooting luck. Through Oct 28: πŸ“ˆ Due for positive regression Knicks: 1st in SQ PPP (1.199), 17th in actual PPP Bulls: 2nd in SQ PPP, 26th in actual PPP (+0.122) πŸ“‰ Due for negative regression Blazers: 1st in PPP (1.268), 15th in SQ PPP (-0.142) Lakers: 2nd in PPP, 20th in SQ PPP (-0.113) βœ… Legit: Spurs, Raptors, Celtics

Brunson and Bridges clearly have struggled the most, and the numbers back it up. Shot making (pts/shot over expected) as Knicks: Brunson 22-23: +.14 23-24: +.13 24-25: +.14 25-26: +.12 26-27: βˆ’.15 Bridges 24-25: +.11 25-26: +.10 26-27: βˆ’.68 Positive regression is coming!
Was looking at this today. Pistons guard us tough so not sure the turnaround comes tonight, but shot chart suggests the positive regression is coming very soon. Things look fine under the hood. Patience is required.

The #Knicks offense has struggled to start the season, ranking 28th in points per possession, ahead of only the #Hornets and #Bulls. But despite the slow start, they’re still generating quality looks, with their shot quality up in nearly every zone compared to last regular season. The shots just aren’t falling. While they haven’t put together a full 48 minutes yet, parts of the process are there. The makes will come eventually. @RexEchikson

The #Knicks open their title defense tonight against the #76ers. Of the last seven champions, none even made it back to the Finals the following season. Can New York break that streak and become the first repeat champion since the 2017-18 Warriors? @RexEchikson

One of Drummond’s biggest strengths last season was defending ball handlers in pick-and-roll situations. Through two preseason games (small sample), he’s allowed an excellent 0.778 PPP in those situations, according to @SynergySST.
Drummond has looked really good in coverage so far Here's him stepping up getting level with McBride as the lone help man who gets in a good position to affect the roll.
