This song means a lot to me - it encapsulates up how hard it felt letting go of not just someone I thought was my “forever” person, but the life we were making together too.
At its core Love In The Modern Age highlights the irony that we’re all craving some kind of electrifying human connection but often searching for it from the loneliness of our living rooms. I hope I captured some of that feeling in the song, watch the live session now on YouTube.
Maybe it’s old-fashioned of me to think that romance is dead. Perhaps the kind I’m thinking of never really existed beyond Hollywood in the first place, but looking for love doesn’t seem as fun as it used to be.
I wanted to write an elegy to romance, something that evoked a strong feeling of nostalgia for simpler, purer times. Whilst recording this song I was constantly picturing the image of a disco ball spinning in an empty dance hall.
So to film the Love In The Modern Age mood video we shot it in the next best thing, an empty cinema. Let me know what you make of it.

Corner Of The Sky was the last song to make the record, by which time I was searching for an album title. It seemed to sum up the concept of the record to me too, so I gave the album the same name. Thanks to all involved, I hope you enjoy it. Watch now!

Went ice skating on a peaceful frozen lake in Norway and ended up with seven stitches. Surreal experience, one of the most beautiful few hours of my life (pre falling over and hitting my head).
Blurry and beautiful last few days. Berlin, Copenhagen - thank you for making a tea-drinking singer-songwriter feel a little bit rock & roll the past couple of shows. Might really let loose on stage tonight and swap the camomile tea for a beer 🕺!

Best thing about playing a hometown show is getting to hug your brother after. I was very moved by all the support yesterday in Oxford.
Lots of friends and family came down for the occasion, many of whom have been there from the start, at all the open mic nights and pub gigs when I didn’t own a guitar tuner or have a song to my name.
So standing on stage yesterday and seeing you all in the crowd made me feel immensely grateful for your love and support over the years. Thank you for being there, nights like yesterday’s gig are truly very special 🙏❤️
