Ethan Reynolds turned limited freshman opportunities into a breakout summer.
The @WKU_Baseball outfielder hit .350/.424/.583 with 29 doubles and 53 RBIs in 51 games, earning @WCLBaseball MVP honors. Now, the local product is poised for a much bigger role in Bowling Green.

🆕 2026 Fall Report: Western Kentucky
Once again, @WKU_Baseball experienced massive turnover but reloaded with a juco-heavy newcomer group, a formula that has worked well for coach Marc Rardin.

Receiving is a lot like telling a story. You can tell when it’s a lie because the consistency of the story changes. Same thing happens with receiving. If you’re not consistent with the look the umpire will know it’s a lie. Be consistent with your move (Story) and presenting the ball, whether in zone (Middle) or on the margins. Make it all look the same.

🚨OpenCommand is updated with new target detections!
This solves a major case where catchers use "decoy targets" with a runner on 2nd.
Turns out the solution was really simple:

FIRE has some *very* interesting conclusions about high-IVB fastballs. It definitely agrees that (generally speaking) more vert = better, and for sinkers (less vert = better, unless it's a rising sinker). Makes sense, but the next tweet is where it gets interesting.

Now imagine a collegiate summer league.. But instead of adding another 40 games AFTER the NCAA season, it’s built around actual player development.
•16 Games Only
•Motion Capture Assessments
•Trackman
•Individual S+C Plans
•5 Days/Wk of Planned Training

I spent 100s of hours grinding out manual labels this summer so that we can measure command!
How? By measuring the distance between the catcher's target VS where the ball landed.
There's more to come, but here's 10 pitches from the All-Star Game: (📽 @MLBONFOX)

The Cardinals just drafted Cal Randall in the 5th round. Randall has the best fastball in the draft. It's an alien pitch at 97 MPH (T100.7) with an outlier -4° VAA, registering a 34.9% whiff rate this year.

Willie Bloomquist will be hiring Lipscomb Assistant Coach Johnny Cardenas to join the @ASU_Baseball staff per multiple sources. He is expected to help with the recruiting side of things and the offense.
He joins the Sun Devils after two years at Lipscomb and was the former head coach at SFA where he got 293 wins there.

Do you get behind the catcher to see what the umpire is seeing?
Always good to get a view of what umpires see to make sure you’re giving them the best look.
