It is very rare that I ever colourise an image, but sometimes - just sometimes - when the wind's in the right direction and a greyscale image captures my imagination, I'm motivated to bring out the colour of their humanity. Like this remarkable photo of a Senegalese soldier from the Great War, photographed in 1916 by Jean-Baptiste Tournessoud. He served in the French Colonial Forces in World War I and smiles broadly at us from 109 years ago. It should be noted that smiling in photographs only became common in the 1920s, so to find an image from the Great War of such a wonderfully beaming solider is extraordinarily unusal! [Cleaned-up and colourised by me].

The bee lives less than 40 days, visits at least 1,000 flowers and produces less than a teaspoon of honey. For us it is only a teaspoon of honey, but for the bee it is a life. Watch two bees work together to remove a bottle cap. 🐝🐝🍯

I wonder how many people in the English speaking work are aware that SANDRA HUELLER (the fabulous actress from Anatomy of a Fall) is a member in the permanent acting ensemble at Bochum State Theatre in Germany. 🙃👇 She acts in a few shows in their rep! schauspielhausbochum.de/de/k…

West End standing ovations are out of control. Please sit down. A few years ago, an audience getting to its feet was a once-in-a-generation achievement. Now audience members seem to think it’s their duty. 🖋️ @FionaLondonarts for @ipaperviews trib.al/iw0qPZN
