Yesterday in Frisco Texas I had the honor of discussing the intersection of state and federal health care policy and patient access with the governor of Texas Greg Abbott. While there ran into an old friend, former chairman of the Health Subcommittee of Enery and Commerce and of the Rules Committee, former Congressman Dr Mike Burgess.

Exciting to see research pushing the boundaries of cardiovascular prevention. As I shared with Newsweek: "By using AI to interpret thousands of proteins and metabolites circulating in the blood, CardiOmicScore may eventually help physicians recognize biological warning signs years before a patient develops symptoms." While this technology is promising, it's important that innovation follows rigorous clinical validation before becoming part of routine patient care. The future of cardiovascular medicine is becoming increasingly predictive, personalized and preventive—and that's exactly where our field should be headed. Thank you to Newsweek for including my perspective. Read the article here: lnkd.in/gE_9FP-j newsweek.com/new-blood-test-…

"Practices are being bought with tax payer dollars!" This is the message I conveyed with my oral testimony to an Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee hearing in May exploring healthcare affordability. Mis-aligned federal statutes and rule making incentives have created a perfect storm resulting in physician practice consolidation into the highest cost of care settings. Healthcare costs are weighing heavily on Americans’ minds. In a new op-ed published by the Washington Examiner today, I argue that one of the most effective ways to lower healthcare costs is to stop squeezing independent physicians.

Very proud to have represented independent physicians across the country in my testimony before the Health Subcommittee of Energy and Commerce 2 weeks ago detailing how the physician fee schedule is broken and desperately needs fixing to preserve timely access to high quality , affordable healthcare for our seniors. energycommerce.house.gov/pos…
