Labor Day is a reminder that workers like Maria and Erika deserve freedom from the tyranny of compulsory unionization.
The National Right to Work Foundation remains committed to standing up for hardworking Americans victimized by union boss coercion.
Starbucks employees like Joe Emmenegger and his colleagues are hardly alone in wanting SBWU out of their store.
Staff attorneys for @RightToWork have represented Starbucks baristas in over a dozen stores seeking votes to remove the union.
Mr. Emmenegger even took to the pages of USA Today to describe the frustration he had with the union and its tactics to prevent him and his coworkers from holding the decertification vote:
“I know my experience is not unique. Countless workers across the country end up stuck in unions they want no part of.”

SBWU union bosses have been allowed to use and abuse the blocking charge system for too long, as they have thwarted dozens of attempts by Starbucks workers to vote on removing the union from individual stores.

Union bosses no longer even pretend that most workers should want them involved in their workplace...
One proposal would grant union bosses power over every worker in a sector based on the support of just 1,000 workers or 25 percent of the workforce, whichever is SMALLER.

"There is nothing pro-worker about granting union officials more power to ignore those they claim to represent."

Unable to attract the voluntary support of workers, union bosses and their allies are now dropping any pretense of “workplace democracy” in their quest for coercive power over employees.

The National Right to Work Legal Defense Foundation, established in 1968, is a charitable organization dedicated to eliminating coercive union power and compulsory unionism abuses through strategic litigation, public information, and education programs.

For years, the one-two punch of Rieth-Riley and the Biden Board’s blocking charge rule has trampled the statutory rights of workers seeking to remove unions they oppose.
Every American has the right to decide whether a union in their workplace is right for them.

An 86-year-old Navy vet worked part-time at his neighborhood grocery for 4 years.
The union never contacted him.
Then it demanded $3,500+ in back dues and, he says, got him fired when he wouldn’t pay.
That’s appalling!

Think Big Labor’s power grabs couldn’t get any worse? Think again!
It’s called “sectoral bargaining,” and it would let union bosses impose one contract across every company and worker in an entire industry.
Under a proposed scheme, a union could gain industry-wide bargaining power over every worker and employer in that sector, forcing workers, who never wanted anything to do with a labor union, to pay dues or fees to a union just to earn a living.
There would be no non-union companies that they could work for, because the union bosses would control them all. This is forced unionism on steroids!
Read National Right to Work Committee President Mark Mix’s editorial to learn how “sectoral bargaining” would expand Big Labor’s power over entire industries at workers’ expense!

A Kentucky electrician asked his union for a copy of his *own* dues card so he could stop paying.
IBEW Local 2100’s answer: Come get it in person.
It was a 48-mile round trip. He fought back, and the union settled.

We at @RightToWork are pleased Mr. Marion stood up to IBEW union bosses and that his Foundation-assisted case has dismantled the obstacle course union officials built to obstruct his and his coworkers’ right to cut off union dues.
Starbucks employee Amy Smith and her coworkers asked for a vote more than three years ago, and they’re still waiting – not because of anything they did, but because union officials and NLRB bureaucrats keep finding new reasons to disenfranchise them.

Brandyn Marion (an electrician at Louisville Gas and Electric Company and Kentucky Utilities Company) has prevailed in his dispute with IBEW Local 2100 after union bosses backed down and settled the case.
The National Labor Relations Board began investigating when Marion filed an Unfair Labor Practice charge against IBEW Local 2100 union bosses for violating his rights by refusing to provide him with the information he needed to revoke his dues checkoff authorization.
Mr. Marion's charge was filed with free legal aid from National Right to Work Foundation staff attorneys.
