ALT “There are cheap seats” It’s not only the price we are criticising, but rather the monetisation. Additionally, our actions in the upper stands would not have the same impact. Furthermore, our goal is to be close to the team we are supporting. In 2027, there is an extra price category for those who want to sit directly next to the teams.

ALT “Why are you so critical of ESL” Our criticism are directed at all Tos, though ESL has a particular relevance for us: it is an organisation with German roots. ESL built CS in Germany, but especially since the end of the ESL Meisterschaft, it has given up on the scene. Other projects worth supporting, such as the ESL Impact were also abandoned. Importantly, we have always had good working relationship with the ESL staff, and for this we are thankful.

ALT “It doesn’t matter if you stay away” This is certainly an opinion, however we still do not wish to support the event. This year we protested in the area, and so consequences must follow. The discussions around our decision have shown that it has an effect. This was not an easy decision for ANY of us, we love this event and it is the highlight of the year, but exactly for these reasons we feel the need to take a stand.

ALT During the last IEM Cologne, we protested the price policies of ESL. In particular, the incredible increase in ticket prices, as well as the tendency to monetise every aspect of the event to an absurd degree. Paying 60€ for a signing session, for a team which is not known at the time of purchase is frankly greedy. With the new ticket prices announced for the next year we can see nothing has changed. The prices are marginally cheaper than for this year, but in return, it will not be a major. We know many fans cannot afford these prices. We believe that Counter-Strike should be for everyone, not just those that have money to burn. These actions will destroy the atmosphere and community we collectively have built over the years. For this reason, we are also considering staying away from the event as a group. We will discuss this with our members and decide together how we want to respond.
