Lord Eric Pickles at the Grenfell Inquiry "I have changed my schedule to fit this in, but I"m missing important lunches to do it." He was head of fire safety when Grenfell burned, and he thinks he is too important to be bothered by an inquiry. He should be before a judge.

Read this. US citizens work their whole lives to build something for their families & for 300,000+ of them every year, it's stolen away the moment they cross the threshold of a hospital. Many choose to die rather than face that. That's what the Tories have always wanted for us

During the 1800's, a double leg amputee signalman James Wide, purchased a baboon called Jack. The baboon at first helped him by pushing his wheelchair around but also displayed an astonishing aptitude for gardening, tending to the station's greenery with remarkable dedication. the pinnacle of Jack's skills was his mastery of the railway signals. Learning by observing James wide , the baboon honed his ability to manipulate the signal levers, coordinating the safe passage of approaching trains. The astonishing part was not just his proficiency, but his uncanny knack for intuitively knowing which lever to pull, rarely making errors and never requiring the same instruction twice. The baboon began to operate the railway, and was eventually given a job and salary. After initial skepticism, the railway decided to officially employ Jack once his job competency was verified. He was paid twenty cents a day, and half a bottle of beer each week. It is widely reported that in his nine years of employment with the railway company, Jack never made a single mistake.

A @RoyalPapworth team used their pioneering heart transplant technique on their 100th patient! The hugely successful procedure now accounts for about 50% of the hospital's heart transplant activity and has increased the number of people able to benefit from a transplant.

Our energy system - like our NHS - should be publicly-owned. And it should be run for the good of people and planet, not for private profit.

We were made to feel that it was SO serious to break the lockdown rules that if a police officer arrested us as we walked home for 'breaking rules' we would not have doubted he was entitled to. Sorry to go here, but it boils my blood they are trying to make light of this.

Is everyone aware that in one week’s time, the government is expecting all NHS staff either (a) to pay for their own LFTs or (b) to stop self-testing & potentially come to work with Covid, infecting vulnerable patients? Is everyone really OK with this? nursingnotes.co.uk/news/work…

I‘ve been banging on for months about how unsatisfactory it is that daily Covid19 infection figures exclude re-infections. Today’s record 78,610 STILL EXCLUDES re-infections, even though Omicron re-infects significant numbers who’ve had Covid19 previously. Nuts

More than 200 people recorded as dying from COVID today. When did this get normalised? As COVID rips through schools, why are we not doing more to protect children and prevent spread? We could be doing much more but a decision has been made that it's not (financially) worth it.
