🔴⚪️ Mikel Arteta: “On my first day as new Arsenal manager, I had demolished the office”.
“I just destroyed the office and put everything on the floor — the computers, the laptops, the cables. Then I brought everybody in”, told @TheAthleticFC.
“I said: ‘If you want me to help you enjoy your profession and your life and the passion that we all share, you have two minutes to put this in order and be ready to work together.’”
“That could have been my managerial career because if that would have stayed the same way, I had no job anymore!”.

There are times when you think AI has gone too far, but then there are moments when you see Uncle Phil from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air scoring Mesut Özil's goal against Ludogrets, and suddenly it all feels worthwhile.

I have officially resigned from the Green Party and will currently sit as an independent Cllr
A statement to the people of Waterloo
Today I have made the incredibly difficult decision to resign from the Green Party. As things stand, I will now sit as an Independent councillor for Waterloo.
I'm 23. I grew up here, walked these streets as a little boy and couldn't be prouder to now represent the community I call home. I didn't get into politics for a career or a party badge. I got into it to help people and make my community better.
At Green Party Conference, a motion was passed declaring Zionism a form of racism and committing the party to oppose it.
I had serious concerns about what this could mean for Jewish members. Being Jewish does not make someone a Zionist. Jewish people hold many different views on Israel and Zionism.
An amendment was put forward saying members should not be pressured or disciplined simply because they attend or are connected to Jewish institutions such as synagogues or community centres. It also sought to ensure Jewish members weren't punished for views that wouldn't see non-Jewish members punished.
I voted for it. It was rejected. I then voted against the final motion.
I saw Jewish members in tears afterwards. I won't forget that.
I came back to Waterloo knowing I couldn't look residents in the face and defend something I believe is wrong.
I will always stand up for Palestinian freedom and speak out against the actions of the Israeli Government. But I can do that while standing with our Jewish community against antisemitism. We must be able to do both.
I fear the Green Party is heading to a very dark place. I cannot follow it there.
If that means my political career ends at 23, so be it.
I'm not leaving Waterloo. I'll still be here, taking up your casework, fighting your corner and doing everything I can for the community I love.

This ought to shock and require a correction and apology. Have we reached the stage when this is so common that it is seen as normal and acceptable?

Look at what happened when this man showed up to an anti-racism rally to stand against antisemitism.
(Spoiler: it didn’t go well.)

The politicisation of absolutely everything is becoming deeply tedious. We used to be a sane country. Women could wear nail varnish or not, according to their preference, and nothing further needed to be said, certainly not by the BBC.

Would anyone like my copy of Mike Russell’s quite astonishing debut novel, the story of a middle-aged academic, irresistible to women and admired by men? Every page is like this. Amazing.

Wonder when news breaks about Rangers' COVID test results in 2020/21???
Another blow for Switzerland. Breel Embolo will miss the upcoming #NationsLeague matches after admitting to obtaining two falsified COVID test results in 2021.

Many people will hate this.
Partly because he’s right.
Tony Blair on Gaza:
There is talk of free Palestine, but for Palestinians living in Gaza, they don't need a slogan; they need a solution.
To be free, Gaza must live in peace with its neighbors and with itself.
And this cannot happen if it's governed by those who use Gaza as a base for war against a neighbor it has no chance of defeating.
if I could like this twice, I would.

Only the most unthinking true believer would seek to extend devolution otherwise. 2/2

The case for extending devolution in any existing area - such as drugs policy - would be strengthened if there was evidence (and that means measured by OUTCOMES) of competence in use of existing powers. 1/2

EXC: YouGov-Sky-Times MRP projects a Hung Parliament with Labour as the largest party in new poll
** Labour on 241. Tories on 130. Reform on 123. LDs on 71. SNP 40, Plaid 15, Greens 9.
** Andy Burnham's Labour come top but 85 seats short of a the 326 official winning line. The party would be down 171 on 2024GE but he'd probably still be in No10
** Nigel Farage's Reform drop from first in the MRP 12 months ago to third, with Kemi Badenoch's Tories now larger in seats (though behind in vote share)
** The right - Tories plus Reform - can't form a government and reach 326 together. But Labour+LDems are not enough either, and need a rainbow coalition

Almost every decision the BBC makes these days seems designed to undermine the case for the license fee upon which the BBC depends.
A focus on quality is the only thing which can justify - and save - the BBC.
