A total lack of leadership from @HockeyCanada. Once a leader, now a bystander.
Hockey Canada releases a statement following Mark Carney's decision to prevent Russian and Belarusian athletes and officials from participating in international sporting events on Canadian soil. (via: @HockeyCanada)

The PTPA is strengthening its leadership and expanding its expertise as we enter a new chapter for professional tennis. Following the recent court ruling allowing our antitrust case to move forward, we're welcoming new leadership and expertise to help drive meaningful change for players. 🏆 U.S. Open doubles champion Christian Harrison joins our Executive Committee. ⚖️ Sports attorney Maurice Suh and his team at Gibson Dunn will advise on governance and structural reform. 🤝 Harry Marino and Sports Solidarity will help strengthen player outreach and engagement. Romain Rosenberg has also stepped down as Executive Director. We thank Romain for his leadership and contributions to the PTPA. Our mission remains the same: giving players a stronger voice and building a better future for professional tennis. Read the full announcement below: bit.ly/4ei4MVz

The coalition boycotting the World Championship due to the admission of Russians continues to grow. I believe the point of this is quite clear. Russians should stay suspended from international sport.
The Swedish Ice Hockey Association announces that it will refuse to play Russia in upcoming international tournaments. They join Finland, Denmark and Norway in taking that stance.

Hey @paugasol we have heard from many athletes looking for an update? Is there anything you can report on the application process? nitter.cf/GlobalAthleteHQ/status…
Did you compete at Milano-Cortina 2026? 🏅 You are eligible for a $10,000 grant from the IOC—promised to open by the year's end. But since the announcement, athletes haven’t received any information on the application process or delivery timeline. We're tracking this closely to ensure Olympians receive what they were promised. Follow the link to stay informed as this develops.👇 globalathlete.org/ioc-fit-fo… @iocmedia @olympics @athlete365

At the same time, sponsors are also leaving hockey because they don’t want to have anything to do with the Russians that CAS is forcing to return. Yes, the same CAS that is known for clearing Russian athletes who used doping in Sochi 2014. And the same CAS that took the side of the IOC in the situation with my unlawful disqualification from the 2026 Olympic Games. The IOC and the bubble created around it is starting to collapse…
‼️Germany is considering withdrawing from hosting the 2027 Ice Hockey World Championship after CAS allowed the participation of russians. Latvia had previously announced it would boycott the tournament.

Finland refuses to play against the Russians at the World Championship and calls on other countries to join this boycott as well. “Now it's crucial to hold the line and get as many countries on board as possible. Now Finland can set an example for the entire ice hockey world.” Russian war supporters have no place on the international sports arena. They must be suspended. If the international sports world doesn’t want to understand this, then a visa ban should be introduced for Russian athletes.
Vihdoinkin johtajuutta!

Gold-lettered blazers, private jets, cars for relatives and VVIP - the gilded life of Gianni Infantino and those that enable his excesses at FIFA. Why is FIFA quietly paying millions in US taxes for its millionaire president? Investigation: nytimes.com/2026/11/02/busin…

‘The U.S. tax arrangement fits a broader pattern of Mr. Infantino’s benefiting personally at FIFA with the help of people who themselves have received perks, including weekslong trips to the recent World Cup, complete with travel, luxury accommodation and access to the most prestigious areas of the stadiums, the documents show.’ Once again, like the Blatter era, the FIFA Congress members are asking few questions, most uninterested in even minimal governance standards, or in ensuring probity on FIFA’s dealings. Every week almost, a new story about money being spent, and misspent, with multiple residences, now tax payments, additional payments now apparently characterised as ‘non-salary’ - incentives’ and ‘reimbursements.’ The governance of the game is rotten. But so entrenched, it’s unlikely to be dislodged. No matter the number of exposes. nytimes.com/2026/11/02/busin…

MEPs have signed a joint letter, calling on EU institutions, the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) and host governments to pursue lawful measures to prevent Russia’s return to international ice hockey. Russia has secured a favourable ruling. It has done nothing to earn its rehabilitation. The Kremlin will use every restored privilege as evidence that the world is learning to live with its war. Europe has legal and political tools to resist that. We should use them. Where those tools fall short, we should create them. "Blaming this decision on CAS would allow those members to quietly get what they want." Gord has nailed it with this comment. CAS reduced WADA's sanction on Russia: WADA blames CAS CAS allowed Russian athlete to compete in Pyeongchang: IOC blames CAS. CAS has no oversight. Sham!
From TSN broadcaster and colleague Gord Miller, who has worked countless international hockey events in his career, on today's CAS ruling: ``The decision by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to overturn the IIHF’s ban on the participation of Russian and Belarussian teams immediately throws the world of international hockey into complete chaos. Some key issues: -can the IIHF appeal? It’s possible it could go to the Supreme Court of Switzerland , but it’s unlikely the court would overturn a CAS decision, as CAS is considered the “final word” in matters of sport. The IIHF council is meeting Monday to discuss next steps. -will governments grant visas to Russian teams to compete? The Russian Ice Hockey Federation is part of the Russian government, the Canadian government said earlier this year it would not permit Russian national teams to enter the country, unlike individual Russian athletes. -will some federations refuse to host events at which Russian teams are present? There are serious security concerns about the safety of participants and spectators, nations refusing to host is a real possibility. -will there be a boycott? The initial feeling is that individual national federations won’t, but what their national governments do is another matter. Anti-Russian sentiment in Europe is strong. -how much will the IIHF push back? Russia (with the help of former president Rene Fasel) worked hard behind the scenes at the recent congress to engineer the election of pro-Russian candidates to the IIHF council. Blaming this decision on CAS would allow those members to quietly get what they want. Finally, this is a devastating decision for Ukraine in countless ways, not the least of which is that their men’s national team earned promotion to the top division of the upcoming Men’s World Championship as the second place finisher in Division 1A last season. If Russia is back in, that pushes Ukraine out, which is an ethical, political and PR nightmare for the IIHF.”

The @iocmedia is failing athletes and the Olympic Movement. Riddled with backroom deals and failed leadership, the IOC operates more like a professional sports business than a nonprofit organization. Athletes remain an afterthought. @GlobalAthleteHQ study: globalathlete.org/research-a…
