“I fear we are careening toward a future with fewer and fewer journalists to do the expensive, difficult work of original reporting.” — A.G. Sulzberger, publisher of The New York Times.
We thank the reporters who have been a part of our 175 years of fact-based journalism.

Very saddened to hear that Mayor Bill is gone. He was a giant in this community. And a dear friend. When we asked him if he’d officiate our wedding, Bill immediately said yes. That was 30 years ago last month. You can tell it was grand time.
🕊️ The City of Springfield mourns the loss of former Mayor Bill Morrisette - a devoted educator, legislator, and civic leader who served our community for over 50 years. His legacy of compassion, public service, and commitment to youth and civic engagement will never be forgotten. 💙

Pretty sad to see that the McKenzie River mural in downtown Springfield has been painted over. I photographed artist Ann Woodruff Murray as she made it back in 1991, and I’d driven by it nearly every day since. If another Simpsons character replaces it, I’m gonna lose my mind.
