Outstanding discussion by Taubes of the dangers of cherry-picking evidence to wrongly claim scientific consensus in the face of considerable evidential controversy. uncertaintyprinciples.substa…

Apparently there have not yet been enough documentaries and films celebrating the heroic tort lawyers involved in frivolous Roundup litigation. Zaruk nails it again.
The film, "Monsanto", will likely be a tragic comedy showing how the US litigation industry is full of vain creatures willing to pay to produce films they themselves (or their family members) wrote about things they did almost a decade ago. Sad...

Zaruk’s “Firebreak” and Schachtman’s “Tortini” are must reads for anyone concerned about the current dismal state of environmental science.
Nathan Schachtman's publication, #IARCsPrecautionaryScience puts the cancer agency under the microscope. @zaruk reviews the book, the failed science, special interests, non-transparency and links to the US litigation industry. Conclusion: Shut IARC down. thefirebreak.org/p/putting-i…

Superb post by @zaruk. Hazard versus Risk explains many of IARC’s gifts to US predatorts, but glyphosate does not satisfy the IARC criteria for a cancer hazard. As the ECHA hazard assessment (more comprehensive and open than IARC’s) concluded, glyphosate is not a cancer hazard.
Why have I been getting so involved in the tobacco harm reduction debate? Have I given up on glyphosate, chemicals and plastics? Far from it. My latest piece shows how these issues are about the same things: zealots, poor science and bad risk management. risk-monger.com/2026/06/02/f…

On the incongruous exemption of the predatort litigation industry from activist concerns about industrial conflicts of interest.
Behind many high profile academic paper retractions, we find the litigation industry pulling the strings. What if the papers supporting Predatort interests were retracted following the same standards. My latest explains why such integrity isn't possible. risk-monger.com/2026/05/04/s…

In an executive order last week, Trump declared glyphosate an essential protected resource. Despite MAHA outrage, he's right. @zaruk explains why glyphosate is essential for sustainable farming and who is behind the activist onslaught against the herbicide thefirebreak.org/p/the-great…

Why is the State of Florida pushing disinformation about food and farming? Their new website misrepresents risk from common chemistry, further stoking distrust in farming and our institutions. My latest . @AmericanBakers @wheatworld @NAMAmillers geneticliteracyproject.org/2…

Agreed. Their efforts to besmirch the accurate reporting in Reuters by Kate Kelland were particularly offensive.
It's frankly stunning that the people engaged in this chicanery at IARC accuse everyone else of corruption.

I win again! This newly-released CDC data shows us that the rise in autism in the United States between 2000 and 2016 was (drumroll)... ENTIRELY (98.25%, not significantly different from 100%) DRIVEN BY A SHIFT IN DIAGNOSTIC STANDARDS. The autism epidemic is incredibly fake.

The scientific method is being strangled by two old activist warriors, Oreskes and van den Berg, who were up to their old tricks trying to raise fears on behalf of their special interests. Hard to imagine how they can remain credible outside of their little activist circles.
Last week, two academic papers were retracted. One was about climate change and one about glyphosate. The climate paper had errors in data and methodology, the glyphosate paper had an angry activist campaign. @zaruk argues how this is a problem for science thefirebreak.org/p/a-tale-of…

Superb commentary on the use of weak science to promote alleged health risks (also the topic Kabat’s excellent book, “Getting Risk Right”).
Our world is full of agents that may (or may not) kill us prematurely or inflict grievous harm: cell phones, vaccines, chemical toxins, pick your poison. But the evidence that fuels our anxieties manifests a familiar pattern: It look like exactly what you'd expect from pathological science, or "the science of things that aren't so." It's why some of us remain hopelessly skeptical that these are legitimate fears. Signs of Bad Science open.substack.com/pub/uncert…

The litigation industry is running the Trump White House. @zaruk adds details on how - the Tylenol-autism correlation was orchestrated by lawyers suing Kenvue - their scientist published their research - litigation finance investors are pulling the strings thefirebreak.org/p/tylenotor…

Hazard, Risk, and the Precautionary Principle
Is there such a thing as too much safety? The evidence suggests yes. Our new video looks at how a scientific concept intended to keep us safe has led the country to systematically misjudge risk.

I enjoy my @SeedWorldEU columns. My goal is to challenge a specific community (seed researchers) to think outside of the lab. My latest shares historical lessons for how researchers should react to the eco-religious assault on science. Keep me in the loop. seedworld.com/europe/2025/04…

My latest starts with a query When you pit integrity and facts against opportunists, fear and a million dollars a year, why will integrity never have a chance? As long as foundations allow Predatorts to spread lies from the dark, facts don't have a chance thefirebreak.org/p/donor-adv…
