Another update from Art of Play, the Brooklyn store Kelly Clarkson criticized on Saturday in a viral tweet. Check my timeline for the previous back-and-forth.
Screenshot of @artofplay’s statement about Kelly Clarkson’s Saturday visit. The store says she spent five minutes there and asked about Molly, a mechanical bird puppet permanently attached to the wall. It says Seattle artist Bliss Kolb owns a nearly identical automaton and would sell it for $15,000, and that staff explained this to Clarkson. The store also says it offered to show her a German-made singing-bird automaton costing about $2,000 that she could take home that day, but she left before seeing it. Art of Play says it has contacted her directly, wishes her well and hopes they can laugh about the misunderstanding.

Digger is an amazing film. Don’t worry about reviews, just go watch it. Very high level film making. My friend Cosmo Sheldrake’s score is also top notch. I will say that I think I understand why many people don’t like it, but I can’t talk about that in detail without spoiling it. Their grievances are totally legitimate and understandable, but I think the film is still very much worth watching if you love the craft of film making. The set design alone makes it worthwhile. It is at minimum a visual feast. Undeniably ambitious. Perhaps not for everyone, but what would you rather watch another f-ing super hero movie?
