I do feel bad for the Japanese, nobody knows anything about France so what are you supposed to make fun of? “Let’s target some tropes in world famous French tv shows” ????

If you asked people to name a famous French tv show most would say “Emily in Paris.”

“Oh so the guy who made real plans for a date did better than the wishy washy guys?” “No, he also got rejected.”
the last person who asked me out did it like this: "we should grab food sometime lol no pressure." i said that month was kind of busy. they replied "all good!!" in under a minute, two exclamation points, and liked my story the next morning like nothing happened i used to read that as confidence. mostly it meant there was nothing on the line "sometime" is not a day. "lol" is an exit built right into the invitation. half the asks i get are worded so a no can be filed as a misunderstanding and both of us get to pretend it was a joke he's gone the second you say no. he packed before he knocked i don't even blame them that much. you can get turned down eleven times a week on hinge without getting out of bed, and after a year of that you stop putting anything on the table you'd actually miss a coworker asked someone out properly last spring. thursday, 7pm, a taco place on 5th he'd already looked up. she said no. he said "okay, thanks for being straight with me" and dropped it, zero chasing. she still told three people about it by friday, because nobody had asked her like that in years when people say men give up too fast, look at what they offered before the no. a "lol no pressure" got exactly the answer it was built for when's the last time someone asked you out with an actual day and time?

The reason to follow the safety rules always all the time is so you form the habit of safely handling firearms. If you instead form the habit of breaking rules when the gun is safe you'll end up shooting someone because you "thought it was safe."

“Rational markets means that literally everything a business does is efficient and rational.”
Unfortunately, because I believe markets are fundamentally efficient and rational, whenever I see businesses doing something which I find tasteless and unappealing I know deep down that it probably works on most people

A lot of stupid decisions are paid for by one good decision.

Because in Japan the honorable thing is to solve a problem that has or potentially could happen. Whereas most other cultures see fixing a problem as admitting to it which is more embarrassing than just letting it continue. This is why Japan is noticeably more functional.
Yo rq why does Japan have female only trains?

There’s also something that 2D slows you down forcing you to think over each choice you’ve made
All forms can be art aside, there is something to be said for the fact that 2D animation requires artists making more choices. And the more choices an artist makes, the more likely they are to make something like this.

To a certain extent the Bible says the same that to die for someone is a demonstration of love but the point Romans 6-8 is making is that Christ did this for sinners, not just the "at least one person" you love but for everyone.
Replying to @thatsnothepoint
'those that hate you' wasn't salient to me, it was mostly just reiterated that Jesus loved us so so so much. God's love was a huge message. and i was like 'ok yeah when you really love someone, you'd die for them. I think everyone around here loves at least one person that much it's not special"
5
Ok but would you die for people you hated? Because Jesus died for every individual person and "I'd do the same for people I loved" is a pretty big caveat on the part of those who think they'd do the same.
going thru diaries from when i was struggling with my Christian faith. It seems even from a very young age, I was confused that Jesus's sacrifice was supposed to be such a big deal. I find multiple entries across the years with variations on "Obviously any of us would do that for someone we loved, it kinda seems like Jesus just hitting the bare minimum"

BG3 figured out that if you just convince libs that your woke from the get go then they'll let you do anything after that. "look you can have sex with a bear" "wow your so brave and woke" "anyway here's all the lingerie you can have the female characters wear" "yass queeen!"
People keep pointing out content like the bear sex scene as an example of the BG3 being woke... but I interpreted that scene as just something crazy you can do within the boundaries of the game rules, like a real d&d session, it's not like the character sits down with you an explains what zoophilia is in those exact terms and how his family doesn't accept him for it and you have to hit A to Affirm, which is essentially what Veilguard does with the nonbinary content

Traffic measures are always confounded by latent demand. That is, adding a new rail line doesn’t improve traffic because it’s taken up by people who wanted to travel to the city but didn’t because the trains were too crowded before.
Replying to @upstatefederlst
Also, I now reject the premise that trains reduce traffic because there could not possibly be any more trains and yet there still always a lot of traffic.

So Tokyo’s traffic doesn’t seem much better on the ground but then you realize that Tokyo is significantly bigger than any US city.

The Street Fighter movie had animated sections and it legitimately felt like this comic playing out in the same movie.

The live action ultimately didn’t believe in itself which hurt the movie a lot because there’s nothing more fun than a silly story that takes itself 100% seriously.

As far as I’m concerned animated M. Bison and live action M. Bison are two completely different characters.

When I was a kid I thought the fights and battles were amazing. Unfortunately I had to watch this thing called “the rest of the movie” instead of watching it purely through TikTok clips.
I actively refuse to believe Star Wars fans watched this in 2005 and thought it was straight pungent slop dogshit

Big assumption that the people who got hired gave a satisfactory answer.
These people don’t seem to understand that the fact that these questions get asked means that there are people who answer them to a satisfactory degree

A lot of people lack action impermanence. They think that if someone takes some action with them, he must take that same action with everyone. They think that if you got rejected for some criteria that means everyone who fails to meet that criteria will be rejected.
