Honoring the family of the father of modern Zionism. 🇮🇱 A monument to Simon and Rivka, Theodor Herzl’s grandparents, was unveiled yesterday on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. The ceremony completes a journey from the Jewish cemetery in Zemun, Serbia, to their reburial at a state funeral on Mount Herzl on August 5, and now a permanent memorial. Organized by the World Zionist Organization, the event also honored Serbia’s historic support for the Balfour Declaration, that paved the way for the restoration of the People of Israel’s sovereignty over their indigenous homeland: the Land of Israel.

The Balfour Declaration was more than a diplomatic milestone. It recognized a national revival already taking root through the hard work and dedication of Jewish pioneers and farmers in the Land of Israel. The NILI intelligence network, led by Aaron and Sarah Aaronsohn of Zichron Yaakov, aided allied forces to liberate the country from Ottoman rule. Their courage embodied a people determined to shape their own destiny. The Declaration gave backing to the restoration of a Jewish national home in the land to which the Jewish people are indigenous. It affirmed a bond sustained for millennia, and supported a national revival built through determination, courage and sacrifice.
On November 2, 1917, the British government issued the Balfour Declaration, paving the way for the restoration of the People of Israel’s sovereignty over the Land of Israel. It set the stage for the international community to officially recognize Jewish indigenous rights to their ancestral homeland at the San Remo Conference on 25, April 1920, and by the League of Nations on 24, July 1922.

Once upon a time, people knew who the villains were. Today, some in the West have created a fairy tale in which Jihadi Hamas terrorists are the heroes. But there’s nothing heroic about mass murder, rape, kidnapping, stealing aid, terrorizing civilians, or sacrificing Gaza’s future. And as long as Hamas remains in power, this story cannot have a happy ending.

*Foreign Ministry Welcomes 36 New Diplomatic Cadets* *Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar at the opening ceremony: “The better you communicate, the better diplomats you will be.”* Thirty-six new cadets, selected from nearly 2,000 applicants, began their training today as part of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ prestigious diplomatic cadet programme. The programme was officially launched at a ceremony attended by Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar and senior Ministry officials. The new class brings together people from a wide range of backgrounds, including a member of a former South Lebanon Army (SLA) family, veterans of elite military units and media professionals. With an acceptance rate of less than 2%, the programme attracted applicants from across Israeli society. This year’s class includes 19 women and 17 men, ranging in age from 26 to 51, with an average age of 34. Among them are both recent and long-established immigrants from Russia, Ethiopia, the UK, Canada and Venezuela. Speaking at the ceremony, Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar told the cadets: “Represent Israel with a deep conviction in the justice of our cause. That is at the heart of your mission. “The better you communicate, the better diplomats you will be. Someone who cannot communicate effectively can never be a good diplomat. “We are fighting a war not only on the battlefield, but also in the battle for public opinion, against powerful forces. If we cannot tell our own story and make our case, no one else will do it for us.” Over the next six months, the cadets will undergo intensive training before taking up positions at the Foreign Ministry in Jerusalem and at Israeli diplomatic missions around the world. Palestinian Hamas is systematically violating the Gaza ceasefire. Since August 2026, nearly 400 violations, including attempts to attack Israelis, smuggle explosives, and rearm. Over 800 illegal crossings of the Yellow Line to gather intelligence and plan terror attacks. Hamas is continuing to destroy Gaza’s future and its chances for peace. Hamas must disarm.
