From the DT today: “An article "GB News fights for relevance as Reform takes to YouTube" (Oct, 1) reported that Reform was trailing Labour and Conservatives in YouGov polling. In fact, by that date Reform was leading the YouGov polls. We are happy to correct the record”.
“Greens ban the word ‘elderly’”. But hang on a minute. I’m elderly. Will I not be allowed to say so?

Wrong wrong wrong, Bob. They reported correctly what the President said. That’s fact, not misinformation. Does it sometimes occur to you that you’re scraping the barrel?
More evidence that @NetZeroWatch have net zero credibility, as they promote obvious misinformation from @realDonaldTrump. They must think their followers are all idiots.

Mr Burnham spoke mainly about his Manifesto for 2029. No attempt to set out changes for now. No new King’s speech programme, no new budget plans, no detail on how to create jobs, get people into work or how to build new homes.
The Burnham speech (on mature reflection). Sweeping, overarching aspirations. Detailed plans, costings? Not a whisper. Immigration? Net Zero? Defence? Growth? Nothing at all.
David Blair: “Mr Burnham, by contrast, will review the triple lock not to defend the country but to expand the state”.

How much will Burnham’s care service cost? Your guess is as good as mine, but as a very rough ball-park figure, I’d guess about the same as the NHS. That’s very roughly £250 billion a year. Cutting the triple lock won’t raise a tenth of that.
“Our” NHS is the envy of the world — though no one on Earth has thought to copy it. But the good news is — now someone has. Andy proposes to model his national care service on the NHS model. Good luck with that, Andy.
Great speech, Andy, lots of big ideas (though not to much about defence, immigration, debt). Only one question: how you gonna pay for it?
Let’s get ready for Sober October! I simply shan’t touch an alcoholic beverage for thirty-one days (apart from beer, wine & Scotch, of course).

Sharon Graham, Gen Sec of Unite, says ending the triple lock would be “morally wrong”. No Sharon. What’s morally wrong is bankrupting the country. But that, it seems, is where vacuous Andy is headed.

I hope there will be retrospective prosecutions of every politician who contributed to vast, rapid demographic change in our country.
The change the country’s citizens specifically voted against.
Many voters (me too) will applaud Healey’s plan to place defence contracts preferentially with British companies. But there’s a snag: if we rejoin the EU, we won’t be allowed to favour British suppliers.

Roger Bootle pours a truckload of very welcome cold water on the idea of rejoining the EU. You’ve heard what Khan & Blair have to say. Now get the low-down from a genuine economist.

Burnham: Britain will vote for higher taxes. Good luck with that, Andy. And paying for care by dropping the triple lock? I’d support ending the triple lock to cut borrowing & save the economy, but not just to spend the money elsewhere.

The only problem with “hope”, the way vacuous Andy talks about it, is that it sounds more like “a wing & a prayer”.

They’ve done those things to deliver better value for council tax payers. Which is what they were elected to do.
