It does make me laugh that there seems to be a genuine confusion and sadness amongst Americans that they arent the centre of attention for this award
Why aren’t more Americans winning the women’s Ballon d’Or? That’s what former USWNT defender Kelley O’Hara was asked on CBS Sports.
Only one American has won it and that was Megan Rapinoe in 2019. This week, Spain’s Alexia Putellas won it for the third time.
“The Ballon d’Or is usually given to a striker,” O’Hara said.
“Our top strikers for the US women's national team are Mallory Swanson, Sophia Wilson, Trinity Rodman. They've been out with whether that's pregnancy or injury.
“So I think that took away from the potential of having more Americans in the nominations.
“But I think there's so many points around the Ballon d'Or and how it's structured, who votes on it, the calendar, all of these things play into the fact that we usually see a European player win it unless it's a World Cup year.
“The last time we saw an American player win the Ballon d'Or was Megan Rapinoe in 2019. And that was after an epic World Cup individually by her, but then also a win by the U.S.
“So I think if the U.S. can go into next summer and win and they have some players step up and play, you know, have moments in tournaments like Megan Rapinoe did in 2019, I think there's a lot of potential for them to be maybe lifting that trophy for the first time since.
“Now what does an NWSL player have to do to win the Ballon d'Or? They probably have to be MVP of NWSL. They have to be a Golden Boot winner and they probably have to win a World Cup.
“They have to win the NWSL as well. You have to go out and win these top competitions and be the best player within your league as a starting point.
“And then also go and win these international competitions.”
Will we see a USWNT lifting the Ballon d’Or next year? 👀
The Ballon d’Or for women started in 2018. So far, Spain’s Putellas and Aitana Bonmatí won it three times each, Rapinoe won it once, and Norway’s Ada Hegerberg won it once.
And this is one of the many reasons why there cant be a marvin gaye biopic
When Marvin Gaye married Berry Gordy’s sister Anna in 1963, the couple intended to raise a family. The problem, however, was Anna’s age — she was already in her forties at the time and unable to conceive a child. Gaye did not want to just adopt a kid, it was important for him to feel a biological connection to the child.
So Anna Gordy suggested they get another girl to birth the child for them. She then mentioned she had a fifteen-year-old niece, Denise Gordy. If Marvin impregnates her, the child will have a biological connection to both Anna as well as Marvin. So it was decided — I suppose Denise’s feelings mattered little.
Marvin Gaye and his wife groomed her teenage niece; he impregnated her, and when she was sixteen, she gave birth to his first son, Marvin Gaye III. The couple subsequently legally adopted the child and kept his true parentage from him.
And Marvin Gaye got away with it. He continued to to enjoy his fame for another decade or so until his own father murdered him inside their family home.
Me hace gracia que un país de inmigrantes se queje de que en otro país juegan hijos de inmigrantes
Chica, bajo tu lógica en Argentina solo deberían jugar indígenas y no los descendientes de españoles e italianos
There’s a common perception that Britain is somehow an exceptionally high-tax country. And, judging by some of the comments here, apparently £126,000 is a relatively modest income compared with what Americans earn.
But let’s get into the real world.
£126,000 is approximately $168,000. That would put you in roughly the top 10% of full-time, year-round earners in America. And remember, America has some exceptionally high earners bringing up the average. You’re earning more than around 90% of the country’s full-time workforce.
And the taxation.
Take that same £126,000 salary and compare what you’d take home after tax in three locations:
🇬🇧 United Kingdom: £6,966 per month.
🇺🇸 California: £7,038 per month.
🇺🇸 New York City: £6,953 per month.
Once you account for all the layers of taxation, federal, state, local and payroll taxes in America, the take-home income is virtually identical.
The US has a much higher GDP per capita than the UK, but that’s because it has a number of enormous global companies and some exceptionally wealthy individuals. The US has extreme wealth inequality, far more so than the UK.
It’s 2026 no one gives a fuck

What a superb job James Morrison is doing at West Brom.
Appointed interim last season with the team winless in 13 and a point above the relegation zone, he kept them up, losing just 2 of their last 12 games. After beating league favs West Ham away today, they're now 4th. 💙🤍
😂😂😂
No disrespect to WBA but they aren't very good.
But how bad are West Ham, Nuno hasn't got a clue who his best starting 11 is. Playing players out of position.
Strange substitutions at the wrong times. We are making a complete mess of this season
JUST SACK NUNO NOW #WESTHAM
