.@sama says the advice to pick one thing to build and pour all your focus into it no longer applies.
"The canonical advice that was correct two years ago was, 'Pick one, and put all your effort into it, because you can't build all 30 things.'"
"You can now build all 30 things. And you can get people to use them all. And you can work more on the ones that work."
"So I think this mindset of lots of ideas, quick feedback, and being open to a lot of things not working is great for this new era for how people build."

Personal AI is going to be hugely important, and it works best when it knows everything about you. That's exactly what you shouldn't hand to a platform whose business depends on it.
Wrote up why the version that wins is one you own.

true democratization of opportunity inbound. the current gatekeepers have no idea what's coming.
Researchers proved AI has deleted every reason universities exist.
Harvard University ran a controlled experiment pitting a custom AI against their own top-tier classrooms.
And the results are going to collapse the higher education bubble.
They took 194 undergraduates and split them up.
One group learned physics in one of Harvard’s best hands-on, active-learning physical classrooms. Group work. Instructor support. The premium university experience.
The other group went home and learned the exact same material with an AI tutor.
The AI didn't just win. It embarrassed the institution.
Students using the AI learned more than twice as much as the students in the elite Harvard classroom.
They scored 30% higher on the final assessment.
And they did it in less time.
Let that sink in.
A piece of software sitting on a laptop outperformed a world-class faculty in one of the most elite learning environments on Earth.
Universities have always justified their exorbitant tuition with two things: access to elite knowledge and the physical classroom experience.
This study just proved both of those moats are gone.
When software can teach you complex physics twice as well as a $60,000-a-year institution, the math of higher education breaks permanently.
The AI didn't just give the students answers. It used strict pedagogical guardrails. It guided. It questioned. It forced the students to do the cognitive work.
It offered perfect, one-to-one tutoring, personalized to the exact moment a student misunderstood a concept.
That level of attention is mathematically impossible to scale in a physical lecture hall.
For a thousand years, the university was the only place to get a premium education.
Now, it’s the bottleneck.
If AI can double your learning speed for a fraction of the cost, what exactly are students taking on decades of debt to pay for?
speed of thought getting coupled to speed of execution is the next big unlock.

So here's me walking through the world, leaving a 3D snapshot of every moment exactly when and where it happened.
Feels a lot like onion skinning reality (to use the animation analogy). We are beings stuck in the arrow of time - who get momentary glimpses of what it means to break free from it. Perhaps this is one of those glimpses.
Did not expect the last post to blow up like that. Really enjoyed the convos - thanks for all the love and the new rabbit holes to dive into.

It's mind bending walking around the same place simultaneously in two timelines
Inside the frame it's winter, and outside the frame it's summer - until you step inside.
Recorded this footage in the winter and localized it against a massive 3d scan of the same ranch in the summer. You can follow the camera from the outside, then step into the moment I recorded.
We spend so much time looking at memories through 2d rectangles in our camera roll. It's a strange feeling to walk around one instead. Like navigating through space instead of scrolling through time.
The geospatial memory palace continues to come to life!

likely to see SpaceX acquire a patchwork or terrestrial mobile providers globally for the high population density locations.

You are correct.
Even the most advanced space-based Internet system is not competitive with fiber or cellular wireless in medium to high population density areas.
However, systems like Starlink are far more efficient for low density areas like rural farmland and moving objects like cars traveling cross-country, aircraft or ships.
why does everything OpenAI does feel like a scam to steal all your data to feed the giant maw of their training corpus.
this one feels worse as it will build a complete psychographic profile of you as an individual to do things with your data that you will never see or understand.
Zuck could only dream of the user data exploits that Sam is pushing in the name of convenience.

interesting meta question about gamification in general.
do endless treadmills actually work long term, or do Humans need true endings before they want to begin again?
TV series, Movie sequels, for that matter apps are examples too. a solid ending before the next installment just feels better than a cliffhanger that leaves you feel ripped off and unsatisfied.
