Today, October 13th, marks World Thrombosis Day (WTD), a global campaign to raise awareness about the causes, signs and symptoms and prevention of blood clots.
Blood clots are more likely to happen when you are pregnant and in the six weeks after your baby is born.
In many cases, blood clots can be prevented by staying mobile, staying well hydrated and using preventative measures recommended by your doctor or midwife. Speak with your doctor, nurse or midwife about your risk of blood clots.
