Alex Tuch's go-ahead goal in the third period was the difference at Bridgestone Arena on Thursday night.
It lifted the Capitals to their third straight win, while the Predators stumbled in yet another close game.

Just an insane shot by Capitals rookie defenseman Cole Hutson. Juuse Saros left almost no space on the near post, but Hutson still found it.
Watch out, Filip Forsberg is heating up. That's now three goals and six points over his last three games.
Barry Trotz gets a warm ovation from the #Smashville crowd. He’s the lone Predators Golden Hall inductee for 2026-27.
Fitting that he’s honored against the Capitals, who he led to the Stanley Cup in 2018.

“I want to see the Big Man.”
Barry Trotz will be inducted into the Preds Golden Hall on Thursday, but he's also looking forward to seeing Alex Ovechkin in his last regular-season visit to Nashville. His memories of the NHL's all-time leader in goals:

The Bears are sending two first-round picks and a fourth-rounder to the Titans for Jeff Simmons. A monster deal.
Blockbuster! The Titans are trading All-Pro DT Jeff Simmons to the Bears, sources tell @ringer @netflixsports.
Tuesday night was emotional for #Isles goalie Semyon Varlamov.
After having each of his knees partially replaced, the 38-year-old earned his first NHL win since Nov. 14, 2024.

The Islanders finally win inside Bridgestone Arena, doing so in dramatic fashion. It’s their first victory at Nashville since Oct. 28, 2017.
Predators rallied, but it wasn’t enough.
Make that three unanswered goals from the Predators, who've erased their early 3-0 deficit.
Ryan O'Reilly continues to produce.
Hold the phone, this game isn't over.
Good awareness by Alexander Kerfoot to find the trickling puck behind Semyon Varlamov for his second Predators goal.
Filip Forsberg gets the Predators on the board with a PPG. He's scored in back-to-back games after a slow start.
Still a big hill to climb with a period and a half left.
It’s Star Wars night at Bridgestone Arena.
Predators and Islanders both going with 11 F and 7 D. Juuse Saros vs. Semyon Varlamov in net.
Filip Forsberg, Roman Josi, Ryan O'Reilly and Steven Stamkos all delivered for the Predators in Sunday's 6-2 win over the Avalanche.
Andrew Brunette called it "a bit of a masterclass” from Nashville’s star players.

Andrew Brunette said the Predators "had 20 drivers tonight. Every time it was their turn to grab the wheel, they floored it."
Avalanche coach Jared Bednar was understandably frustrated after tonight's 6-2 loss to the Predators:
"We should have been the team with more energy... with (Nashville) playing the back-to-back on the road and us here waiting for them. It looked like it was the exact opposite."
Bednar added that he's going to take a few days to think about his message to the team.
Former Avs Jack Drury and Ross Colton victimized their former team on this goal. The Predators are absolutely rolling.
