One of those rare times when I get a video of me running a hoist evolution. (Training the other week in the Seymour Valley.)
Did not have a coup in Poland the day before Halloween on my bingo card.
Another great option along Highway 3!

Nice article in Arete, the publication of the @ACMGca re rescues in the Mountain Parks.
1st data I've seen for # of rescues too. Interesting to see @NSRescue has almost as many calls as all of Jasper National Park (& bit under half of Banff/Yoho/Kootenay)

Huge benefit to being with Rogers in Canada.
Especially useful in the SAR context (maintain forms of cell connectivity despite being out of traditional cell communication range).
Starlink just turned Canadian phones into global satellite phones
Rogers just expanded its satellite-to-mobile roaming to Japan, Australia and New Zealand, on top of the U.S.
Rogers is powered by SpaceX's Starlink satellites, and now Canadians can stay connected in 4 countries abroad wherever cell towers don't reach
And the possibilities are incredible:
• Text from remote trails in New Zealand and the Australian outback
• 𝕏, WhatsApp and Messenger straight over satellite
• Google Maps and AllTrails navigation with zero bars
• Real-time AccuWeather updates in the backcountry
• Included at no extra cost on eligible plans and Travel Passes
Partner networks in each country are connecting to the same Starlink layer: Docomo, KDDI and SoftBank in Japan, Telstra in Australia, One NZ in New Zealand and T-Mobile in the U.S.
Starlink Direct to Cell is becoming one global network where your phone just works, no matter which country you land in
And this is just the beginning

Shocking that Parks Canada is ending its K9 SAR dog program in Banff.
(Disclaimer, I know and trained with the wardens on the wilderness search discipline when I was a validated K9 handler.)
No CARDA avalanche dog in Parks is downright negligence.

Also, it's very difficult to spot you at night from the helicopter when you're wearing dull/dark clothing and have no light.
(In spotlight, standing between the two flat rocks)
Replying to @taloncopters
@taloncopters doing strange patterns in the backcountry after dark?
Can only mean yet another @NSRescue call.

North Shore Rescue @NSRescue has just posted a series of accessible videos about the SAR system, for the neurodivergent community (and their caregivers).

Genetically engineered dogs for miliary, law enforcement, etc.
Will be interesting to see, I guess, but I'll still take Neiko's RCMP line genetics and PDS training any day.
Warhound, the brain child of Ben Lamm and Palmer Luckey, emerges from stealth to genetically engineer dogs for military and law enforcement.

Goes to show there’s still a LOT of education to do.
-don’t know to call 911 for backcountry emergency
-“No summer group carried all of the 10 essentials.”
Etc
