Together they represent one of the biggest transfers of wealth from households and businesses to the Treasury in decades – with little to show for it in public services.
Whether you're a business owner employing staff, a parent paying school fees, a farmer planning succession, an entrepreneur building wealth or simply someone trying to save for your family’s future...
- You keep less of what you earn.
- You keep less of what you invest.
- You leave less for your family.
Death by a thousand cuts.
My local MP just retweeted this obnoxious grifter. Couldn’t stand Neil either….I remember him being called Kinnochio.. #GravyTrainFamily
All the time knowing they will just increase Council Tax so that £100 will be like a pi55 in the ocean.
BREAKING NEWS: £100 payment to every household in council tax bands A-D across Wales ✅
As energy bills rise, Plaid Cymru is acting to help families with the cost of living 💚
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The £100 payment for Welsh households follows UK Chancellor John Healey's Budget announcement of the policy for England, with equivalent funding provided to Wales via the Barnett formula; the Plaid Cymru-led Welsh government is passing it on.

Back in 2010, the minimum wage was £12,064 and the 'higher earner' band started at £43,875.
You only paid 40% tax once you were earning 3.6x the minimum wage.
There was clear incentive to progress, learn and aspire for more.
As things stand, you now start paying 40% tax once you earn £50,270 which is just 1.83x the minimum wage.
If it was the same multiple as 2010, the 'higher earning' band would be £98,841 and everyone below this amount would be paying 20%.
Someone on £98,841 is effectively losing out on £9714.20 net per year if the bandings had simply moved in line with previous multiples relative to minimum wage.
This is one of the reasons why the middle class is being eroded and why there's a cost of living crisis in the UK.
An increase to £13.20p/h equates to a minimum wage of £27,456, based on a 40 hour week.
Once you factor in employers NI and basic pension contributions, the MINIMUM cost to hire a 21 year old for a company would be £31,461.
This is before you factor in any overarching business costs like office space, laptops, phone, software, training, support staff, vehicles etc.
This is going to be devastating to SME's who cant put together a simple 12 month budget without the goalposts being moved & their margins squeezed.
It'll also be catastrophic to youngsters opportunities because businesses will simply not be able to afford to hire them.
What's also incredible is that anything above £50,270 is seen as 'high earnings' in the UK and is taxed at 40%!
We are governed by financially and economically illiterate morons.
This will not end well.
£10bn….while our own army and navy are neglected. Shame on you @UKLabour
And as for John Healey, he resigned as Sec of State for Defence due to lack of funding for the armed forces and yet here he is, still doing nothing about it. Hypocrite.
🚨 NEW: John Healey has announced Ukraine will receive £10bn in additional economic and military support

Have you got any links to your data showing how exactly 8,000 people will perish from "extreme heat" and what form of "climate damage" your 16 billion pounds is?
And why imported gas doesn't cause these phenomena?
Or are you just another hysterical green prat?

The IRA were terrorists, not soldiers. Their campaign of murder and bombing was not a war of equals, and no amount of historical revisionism will ever make it so. Labour’s Northern Ireland Troubles Bill risks allowing the IRA to rewrite history while British veterans face the prospect of being dragged through investigations decades after serving their country.
Where is the accountability for the IRA? Where are the answers from the Irish Government about those who fled across the border, the support they received and the supply of weapons?
I served in the British Army. My friend, Captain Robert Nairac, was murdered by the IRA. His body has never been recovered. His family still deserves to know what happened to him and where he lies.
The IRA cannot be allowed to portray its campaign of terror as justified by the Good Friday Agreement. Peace does not retrospectively legitimise murder. There is no moral equivalence between terrorists and those who served to uphold the law.
This Bill is a betrayal of our veterans and of families still waiting for the truth.
“This is a terrible bill and a terrible act.”
Iain Duncan Smith SLAMS the Troubles legacy bill, following the Northern Ireland Secretary’s insistence that it is not an amnesty for soldiers.

Every single sentence in your post is untrue.
Labour’s 2002 ‘deal’ had very little long-term impact on migrants trying to sneak into the UK by lorry/container/vehicles. It simply moved from Sangette to other routes.
Between 2014-2019 55,000 came in that way — an underestimate since many came in undetected and disappeared into society. Unlike boat people, nearly all of whom are counted.
So it’s an obvious nonsense to say people weren’t being sent back because nobody was arriving. Tens of thousands were arriving.
They switched to small boats when major advances in technology, perimeter defence of lorry/container parks and detection made lorries etc too risky to take.
That’s why, from 2018 onwards, the small boat numbers grew fast.
Nothing to do with EU, Brexit, Dublin rules, fairy dust etc. Why do you peddle such falsehoods?
