With Jagtar Singh Johal released on bail on 1 October @FCDOGovUK @Ed_Miliband have the levers, in part mentioned in @HouseofCommons on 15 October: Diplomatic Protection, Indian government interference to try and block Delhi High Court decision and no show by protected witness on 14 October to get the Indian authorities to drop charges and get Jagtar home ASAP.

I continue to press for Jagtar’s full release and return home to his family. His long ordeal must end.

Lawyers for Scottish Sikh activist who has been locked up in India for almost nine years without conviction have said he has been granted bail.
Jagtar Singh Johal, from Dumbarton, was arrested in 2017 in connection with alleged terror offences.
He has been acquitted of charges in one court, but after nine years they still need to be addressed in federal court.
Details of bail await, but an extraordinary miscarriage of justice may be ending.

Anti-Sikh hate is on the rise, with increasing attacks on Sikhs and the spread of misinformation online.
As Chair of the @AppgBritSikhs I invited Sikhs from across the UK to Parliament to meet with their MPs to discuss growing anti-Sikh hate and what more politicians can do to ensure Sikhs are free to practise their faith safely and without fear.
MPs, Sikh constituents and representatives from the Board of Deputies of British Jews all shared insights into their experiences and approaches to tackling hate crime.
It was a hugely productive session, with 30 MPs in attendance. Thank you to everyone who joined us.
