Today, a ribbon cutting was held at the Charleston County DSS office for the latest Lily Pad spaces in the state. Tony Catone, DSS State Director, joined staff, volunteers, and partners from Lily Pad to mark the largest installation of its kind in South Carolina. Lily Pad creates a living room-like setting for children and youth awaiting appropriate foster placement. The rooms often include a TV, gaming system, books, board games, comfortable couches, desks, and age-appropriate toys. Lily Pads are funded and furnished by generous volunteers and private donors nationwide. Learn more at lilypadinc.org/

With Halloween almost here, we want to again thank everyone who came out to support our recent Trunk-or-Treat event at State Office in Columbia. On Friday, October 16, hundreds of little ghouls, princesses, and superheroes came out for the fourth annual event. The Trunk-or-Treat was an opportunity for children to not only receive treats but also for families to learn about the services and resources offered by DSS. We extend our thanks to our many community partners who were also on hand to make the event so memorable for everyone. #BetterTogether
