Managing LinkedIn is awful. I got tired of the sales bros, life coaches, and endless notifications, so I updated LinkedIn Desk for Grok Bot.
V2 now has eight skills to sort the mess of notifications and approvals. You approve the cleanup. It does the clicking. You get back to the good stuff.

In the latest Growth Memo, I found that AI referral traffic grows rapidly: 5.6x in the US and 6.4x in France over the last 2 years.
HOWEVER. However. It's still just a drop in the bucket. We're at 0.5% of total traffic in the US and France (across 10k domains each).
Even with much better conversion rates, that's tiny.
Even if AI traffic doubles again over the next 2 years, it would make up only 2.8% of total traffic in the US and 3.7% in France.
I think AI traffic is a Red Herring. What matters much more is exposure: how often are you recommended in the way you want to be?

While everyone is talking about Gemini 4 Carbon today, Google just announced something even bigger for Search Marketers:
You can now build apps (using MCP) that can be used directly inside Google Search and Gemini.
Google announced the Connected Apps Platform. When approved, users link your app once and can access their data and take actions in your service seamlessly from Google's products.
Remember when Sundar Pichai said that Search will become an agent manager? This is it!
For 25 years, Search was a place where people connected with websites for information. In this new era, it's functionality that matters. Your business will be found on Search if it helps people (and their agents) get things done.

Finally, @seroundtable published a story on this after @nozzleio published original research: seroundtable.com/third-party…
This wrecks the data in tools like Ahrefs Site Explorer and SEMrush. It's now all suspect and must be heavily scrutinized before used to make biz decisions.
Something is definitely wrong with @ahrefs rank tracking today. Every site we work with has "tanked" in Ahrefs, but when we spot check, rankings are fine. Realize this is a challenging time for rank trackers in general, but would appreciate proactive comms from the Ahrefs team.
We Finally Know the #1 Ranking Factor for AI and LLMs.
Across 100 industries, 16 LLMs, ChatGPT's web interface, and Google AI Overviews, I found the same pattern over 20,000 times:
The top-recommended sites have backlinks and brand mentions on pages that are more relevant to their industry.
And yes, that includes brand mentions without a link.
--
This kind of research involves more complexity and more layers than usual. So, I _highly_ suggest you take 12 minutes and watch the video.
Seriously. I can almost guarantee you will learn a lot about how LLMs work.
--
If you understand how LLMs are trained, this is _exactly_ what you would expect.
But, until today, we've had to rely on our intuition for that guidance.
That's no longer the case. We now have concrete evidence that this is the primary ranking factor for AI and LLMs.
In the end, for AI search visibility, your SEO, link building, content, PR, and reputation teams all need to be on the same page about who you're trying to reach and how you want to be referenced.
--
That's also what I built OppAlerts to help you do. It brings semantic similarity to your brand monitoring, competitor research, and link prospecting, so you can find opportunities most relevant to your business and target market.
Tomorrow, I'll have the blog post with all of the data.
Next week, I'll have a much longer video - probably about an hour - helping you and other marketers understand how AI and LLMs work at a much deeper level. This 12-minute video is a small sample of that.
Follow to stay tuned for all the updates around this and future research as well.
If you don't want to watch the video, or want a text version, the blog post is in the top comment.

An SEO expert, a GEO bro, and an AEO guru walked into a bar near me.
The SEO expert had a beer.
The GEO bro copied him and had a beer, then claimed that he invented beer.
The AEO guru spammed Reddit, had a beer, drunk all the spirits, smashed the bar up, set it on fire, then posted a case study about how the press coverage of the bar burning to the ground had caused its citations to skyrocket 400% in ChatGPT over a 6 week period.
