Film Series | Schwartz Athlete Spotlight DJ Graham @DJGrahamSJP Saint Johns Prep DB 6’2” 190 C/O 2028 I really like his game, particularly the combination of a big frame and comfort operating in man coverage, something I don't see emphasized enough on high school film. The opening rep starts with five yards of cushion, outside-in leverage and his eyes on the quarterback. His click-and-close mechanics are impressive for his age and size: he plants, redirects without extra steps and drives on the throw under control for the PBU. On the next snap, his short, choppy backpedal keeps his feet underneath him as he mirrors the receiver. He stays patient with his hips rather than opening the gate early, allowing him to remain connected to the receiver's hip through the route. At :30, his work at the line shows another aspect of his coverage technique. He slides laterally on his first step to get across the release, knocking the receiver off his intended track before the route can develop cleanly. The footwork is the common thread here: measured in off coverage, disciplined in transition and purposeful when challenging a release at the line.
