👌 🎥 from the mutually blocked @melsportslover with poor resolution when zooming. A margin of error of approx. 9%.
P.S. This looks very likely to be a 1,500-2,500 attendance tops, yet they’ve somehow declared “6,232”.
Unequivocally, #FAKE⚽️ is a sham no? 🤔

The problem is the FA don’t want ethnic clubs so these made up teams with fans who don’t care are what we got. You’re right about Melbourne city fans being the left over crumbs from victory. They are general sport fans not football people. Checking cricket scores at halftime ect

The AL began as an intercity comp, like the MLS, but we have only 7 cities. An 8 team comp with NZ. Daft. Melb V got the keys to Melb. 5-yr exclusive. Collected most available fans.
AL failed. Switched to intracity 'Derbies'. Melb got its 2nd franchise. Melb Heart. Dafter. Got leftover fan crumbs. UAE came in by stealth. FA claims to have been surprised. Amazing. Heart became a UAE outpost-Melb City. Light blue. Victory Lite. The two 'protected their investment', so we got Western Utd. Daftest. Gone now.
Melb City promised growth and big crowds. Over a decade later, game 1 at home of a new season. Against Sydney, the other light blues. At AAMI bathed in sunshine. Clear air. A Heart crowd. Heart-breaking how our game is run.
Stultified. Strait-jacketed by protected investment. Owned and operated by a self-interested, private, for-profit company, owned by Silver Lake and whoever owns the franchises. FA has given it away. Made itself and us impotent. Sidelined.
Melb City: Useless. Unloved. Superimposed. Bought. It's VP involved in Man City's shenanigans has more say in selecting FA directors than our historic clubs.
It will be a uni course in How Not To Govern Sport.
At least moves are afoot to remedy this ridiculousness.

I should add my club the Western Sydney Wanderers #WSW were rightly criticised for partial compliance, with three identified administrative shortcomings
Governance reform is needed

The interesting thing about your pic @sebth is the distribution of the tiny crowd. A large portion of it is in Lev2. Corporate guests. 700 of 20k is ok. But out of 2-3k means MC's real crowd is negligible. Over a decade in. Hopeless. Yet, its influence on our game is pervasive.

Newcastle fans have completely abandoned the team. 12 -17,000 crowds just vanished. Poor Supporter base #NEWvWEL
What does it tell you about Australian club football, when ongoing expansion into NZ is what keeps the #ALeague above water⁉️
Honestly, might as well call it the NZ League & play in Oceania‼️
God forbid APL act in the interests of Australian football‼️
🚨BREAKING: The A-League will have a 13th team based in NZ from 2028. The “Orcas” will play in Christchurch and are backed by South-Island local Peter Thiel.

“The committee determined that providing millions of dollars of taxpayer funding to Macarthur and the Western Sydney Wanderers for the program after accepting their donations has ‘the appearance of favours in return for government funding’.”
Perhaps #MCFRANCHISE🍟 CUSTOMERS coined the term “Peak .\-Liga” so they could defer having to make appropriate commentary on what amounts to one unacceptable occurrence after the next no? 🤔🤦♂️

This is depressing
Government funds to Football are already scant and this is how they are treated
Puts at risk future grants so Bulls have a lot to answer
So does FA with WU and Bulls
Macarthur FC lacked capacity to manage $8m grants: report smh.com.au/politics/nsw/emba…
Interesting that Richard Lenarduzzi is being investigated by ICAC for his dealings with Macarthur Bulls, whilst he has also advised Anter Isaac & the Football Australia leadership.
Remember it was also Gino Marra that said he was "100 per cent behind" Simon Pearce.

We all look through our own lense on who should run Football.
But Craig Foster & Mark Schwarzer could not even get to a vote for FA Board and withdrew. Shows that broadening the voter base to fairly represent all stakeholders is needed
How does Gino Marra pass Football Australia’s fit & proper assessment?
I guess being mates with Simon Pearce & Anter Isaac just makes him one of the boys.

Replying to @SMEMUFC
We hope to see the Falcons rise again.
Latrobe City Mayor Sharon Gibson publicly laid down that very challenge yesterday.
First step was to rebuild the facility.
Second is to build the academy.
Third is to develop a model that balances ambition with long-term sustainability.
Fair point by @RobbieSlater17. We currently have Isaac as FA Chair who nearly nobody outside of APL know. Why not have a Tim Cahill as Chair, supported by a @TheRealBozza Craig Johnston & Emerton. Something to consider as part of wider governance reforms.
