Please join us in welcoming Elena Juliano and Shailyn Santos, our newest Family Services interns from the @Rutgers University Master of Social Work (MSW) program, to the SUDC Foundation.
This webinar will explore how families can approach conversations about genetic test results with loved ones following the loss of a child whose death was classified as Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood (SUDC). forms.gle/dJinD8tmGambY75K6
Sudden unexpected deaths in children are complex, & researchers are investigating a range of potential contributing factors including genetic, neurologic, cardiac, metabolic, & other biological mechanisms.
That is why a multidisciplinary approach matters.

Clinical phenotyping is the process of mapping a child's physical & behavioral traits which creates a detailed blueprint of a child's health before and after death. Researchers can then use this info to better understand genetic findings & whether or not they have significance.
From multiomic studies to postmortem genomics, our research investments fuel cutting-edge research to uncover potential causes, identify risk factors & move us closer to answers & prevention. Because every child gone too soon matters & because every family deserves answer. #SUDC
We combine trauma-informed family support w/ strong partnerships across the scientific, medical, & medicolegal communities. By connecting families w/ trusted resources & collaborating w/ leading researchers, we are helping advance the understanding of #SUDC today. #griefsupport
A VUS is a genetic finding within a gene, but they currently do not have enough evidence to know whether this change causes an increased risk for disease or if it’s a normal change they haven’t seen before. For SUDC families, receiving a VUS result can be difficult and uncertain.

For families affected by SUDC, these gaps can mean unanswered questions, inconsistent classifications, & limited data to guide research and prevention. We are working to strengthen awareness, improve investigation, & support research that brings us closer to answers every day.
Join us 3/19/26 8 pm, ET, for this webinar that will help families better understand what genetic test results mean, what they don’t tell us, & how results can evolve. forms.gle/8w2HcJoopEnxqjMa7

SUDC is a category of death of a child 12 months of age or older that remains unexplained after a thorough investigation, including a complete autopsy, death scene examination, & clinical history review. We do not know what causes SUDC, how to predict it, or how to prevent it.
March is #SUDC Awareness Month. Healthcare professionals can help advance research, education & awareness. Join us to #ShineALightOnSUDC 💙💛 sudc.org
