During the 2026 Strathmore University Staff Recognition Awards Ceremony, Evans Ijakaa (@ijakaa_evans_ ), Communications Officer at Strathmore Law School (SLS) and Patron of the Bachelor of Arts in Communications(BAC) Students under SCCC, received the Community Impact Award.
The award recognises his work in building partnerships with community-based organisations in Mukuru Kayaba, in collaboration with the Strathmore University Foundation (SUF). Through these partnerships, BAC students have had the opportunity to apply their skills in service to society. The students provided communication training to the organisations, while the SUF team supported them with training in resource mobilisation
His work as a digital journalist also featured in the recognition, particularly his efforts to amplify the voices of underserved communities and bring attention to social issues affecting them.
Through his work, Evans Ijakaa brings together journalism and development advocacy, connecting grassroots issues to the global development agenda.
