So yeah, Iβ―guess it still works !
There's a strange thing about startup billboards in SF:
companies announce how much money they've raised
(as if funding were the achievement)
meanwhile @smartlead_ai puts up a billboard saying:
"25,000 mails sent while you read this"
much more interesting flex:
- funding tells you what investors believe a company might become
- usage tells you what its product is already doing
Neither guarantees a great business
But we've somehow reached a point where raising money gets more attention than building something people actually use :/

If your proof as a startup is how much you raised, that's a weird definition of proof.
Capital tells me what you were given.
Usage tells me what the product does.
Someone sent me that @smartlead_ai billboard going the usage way.
I use the tool with my agency, so yes, biased
Still felt different.

SF is full of AI billboards making big promises.
But this one caught my attention.
β25,000 emails sent while you read this.β
Most AI companies tell you what they could do.
@smartlead_ai makes you picture WHAT they're doing right now.

Every few months someone on here says email warmup doesn't work.
V from Smartlead says his warmup network sends 70 million+ emails a day.
He said he'd love to shut it off because it costs him a fortune.
The problem is that it DOES work.

My parents were embarrassed when I walked the stage at my high school graduation.
Education was extremely important to them, and I wasn't the student they hoped I would be.
That day, they told me I could make it up to them in college.
A few years later, my lead gen agency had grown enough that I dropped out.
So instead of making it up to them, I disappointed them again.
My business kept growing after that.
I made more money and built a real company and created a life I was proud of.
But none of that fully replaced what graduating would have meant to my parents.
I was never really able to make it up to them, until recently.
V and the Smartlead team put me on a billboard in New York.
I got to bring my parents there and surprise them with it.
And for the first time, it felt like I could show them something they immediately completely understood.
It reminded me of what walking across that graduation stage could have been for them.
I don't think any amount of money could have created that same feeling.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you to V and the Smartlead team for giving me that moment.
