In June 2010, before most of the world had even heard of Bitcoin, Gavin Andresen launched something simple but powerful, a website that gave away 5 BTC to anyone curious enough to try it. He seeded it with 1,100 BTC of his own, and the community quickly started donating to keep it running. Over its lifetime, the original Bitcoin faucet distributed roughly 19,700 BTC, worth about $1.6 billion at today’s prices.
Just one week after the announcement, Satoshi himself replied on the Bitcointalk thread, saying, “Excellent choice of a first project, nice work.”
He even mentioned that he had planned to build the exact same thing if nobody else did. As mining difficulty rose, he wanted newcomers to be able to get their first coins and actually experience Bitcoin. That was the spirit of the faucet.
FAUCET carries that idea forward.
This is a paired BTC coin with a 3% tax. Trading activity funds real WBTC rewards for eligible holders. The original faucet gave people Bitcoin so they could try it. Today, FAUCET turns trading volume into ongoing Bitcoin rewards for holders, carrying the same spirit into the current market.
Why it’s BTC’s turn
We’ve seen strong runners on Zcash and other altcoin narratives. Those were interesting, but Bitcoin is simply in a different league. The Story - Shuren Over Degen
They told you they'd rug. Out loud. From day one.
And people believed in the art enough to buy anyway — grails, real money, thousands of dollars — knowing exactly how it might end.
