On this day, 15 years ago, Francis Nyaruri was found decapitated in Kodera Forest, #Kenya.
Nyaruri covered issues of local corruption, and was murdered because of it. His killers are still at large. In the absence of justice, what remains is the pain: standardmedia.co.ke/health/n…

In 2015, Kenya’s High Court acquitted two people suspected of killing Nyaruri.
The court castigated the police for a “poorly investigated” case, saying they had failed to follow obvious leads.
Today, CPJ remembers Nyaruri and calls on Kenyan authorities to finally deliver justice to his family.

#Kenya: On this day 15 YEARS AGO, the body of Weekly Citizen reporter Francis Nyaruri was found decapitated in Kodera Forest in present-day Homa Bay County.
Nyaruri had gone missing two weeks earlier from his home in Nyamira County. He was murdered after investigating alleged corruption in a police housing project.
