Dear Twitter: Seth Boyer’s dad Ron has arranged the 1st fundraiser for the SETH M BOYER FOUNDATION to bring awareness to and funding for brain cancer research. If you can, please consider donating to a great cause! donorbox.org/events/621855
Commemorating the first, annual Seth Boyer Award for Excellence in Research, in memory of Seth, a @UMPhysiology student in the lab. Seth was an extremely bright, hard-working, thoughtful, diligent scientist. He never backed down from a challenge and made important contributions to our understanding of pancreatic cancer*. In his memory, we have established this award, whose inaugural recipient is Damien Sutton. Damien embodies those characteristics of excellence that we knew and loved in Seth. May this award be a testament to the awesome scientist, colleague and friend he was. * elifesciences.org/articles/7… @eLife pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/3641… @NatureCancer

Defense cake 🎂 Back story: @Sajjakulnukit painted the picture he’s holding in high school. He used it as his white elephant gift at the exchange this year. It is objectively terrible, and the whole situation is hilarious. @HeatherGiza recreated it on his cake 🤣

The 5-year survival rate for #pancreaticcancer has increased to 13%, according to the American Cancer Society’s Cancer Facts & Figures 2024 Report, released today. 💜 This statistic has increased three years in a row — a promising trend that points to continued progress for pancreatic cancer patients. There is more hope than ever before, but there is still more work to be done. We remain committed to our long-standing research priorities: To find an early detection strategy and accelerate treatments for patients with pancreatic cancer. We’re on the right path to achieve our bold goal of reaching a five-year survival rate of 20% by 2030. Together, we can make it happen. 💪 Learn more about what this means for patients at: pcan.at/a25jq7.
