Our independence fight is not going unnoticed
In the latest Tribune, I have a long piece outlining why anti-imperialists should view the break up of the UK as best way to finally end the British Empire’s 400-year reign of terror I go through the military, intelligence and war-waging significance of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Conclusion: there is simply no way London could continue to play its central role in the imperial system without these territories - and the establishment know it SNP dominate Holyrood, Plaid Cymru is now largest party in the Senedd, while Sinn Féin is largest Northern Irish party in Stormont and Westminster. The reckoning is coming We should support independence for Scotland and Wales, as well as Irish reunification, on principle - and to give respite to the long-suffering victims of British power all over the globe. The break up of the union means the end of the empire Read it here: tribunemag.co.uk/2026/11/bre…

Replying to @pat11060
One addition to this is that the case rests on all above but primarily on the evidence that the treaty on which the British state rests its legal identity, by which it is recognised and understood to satisfy the conditions of a lawfully constitutionally and single state, was never given effect. It is inoperative and was deployed as cover for annexation as with many other British ‘treaties’. We can show without possibility of contradiction that no new state or single kingdom ever came into existence and that the Scots attempted to reverse the annexation in 1715, 1719 and 1745 when the majority of Scots supported the risings which were officially declared insurrections and not civil war. (That history has been rewritten to suggest a very different basis but the record tells the true story.) Post 1745 the insurrection was handled by English military occupation from Orkney to the borders, punishment of the supporters deemed the majority of the population, with orders for famine and slaughter and then legislated destruction of the predominant language, culture , laws and social structures of an entire people along with the first clearances. This ‘pacification’ meets the modern definition of genocide. There is no time limit for culpability in this respect just as there is none for slavery. It is another of the critical facts hiding in plain sight and more important than we might have thought.

Scotland generates the energy, Westminster controls the system, and ordinary Scots are left questioning why our natural wealth doesn't translate into lower energy bills! We're not short of resources, we're short of control... Scotland needs FULL control of OUR resources!

The Genocide in Gaza is entering its final stages, after the 'ceasefire' Palestinians were given 50% of Gaza. That has now been reduced to just 15% and Israel are mass bombing INSIDE that 15%. The silence of many in the West allows this Genocide. They are ALL guilty of it.

Auchtertool: musings from an afternoon stroll. Scotland's political representatives & political system are no longer capable of protecting this greenfield site, the serenity of this 800 year old place of worship or the village community that has abided here for over a 1,000 years. Our political class has lost the instinct to protect its people & communities - no growl, no courage, no ethos. This panoramic view is now under proposals that will see it swamped by a munitions factory, an explosives storage complex, a hyperscale data centre, all atop one of the biggest gas pipelines in the UK... not to mention the bulldozing of the ruins of the 1,000 year old Halyards Castle, the vaults of which were sealed, covered & yet to be excavated. Scotland needs a new political system. Our people must take responsibility for our own future. It is time to think anew, and act anew. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 (Photo: me, no filters, just bonnie Scotland)

Many, many thanks for confirming the history Scots keep explaining. Britain was and is England. Scotland wasn’t annexed and added to English domains until 1707. It had no slave trade of its own. English law applied across all its colonies
Dear UK patriots, it's very okay to show your patriotism towards your nation; however, it's expedient to know some facts about your nation. Between 1562 and 1807, Britain became one of the most dominant slave-trading nations in human history, transporting an estimated 3.1 million enslaved African people across the Atlantic. Rather than capturing most individuals directly, British participation relied on a deeply organised, state-backed economic and military network operating along the West African coast. The British systematically participated in slavery within Africa through several distinct methods: 1. Constructing "Slave Factories" and Coastal Forts British traders did not typically venture inland. Instead, they established permanent, heavily fortified commercial bases on the West African coast known as "slave factories”. 2. Fueling Regional Conflict with Manufactured Goods British merchants operationalised the first leg of the Triangular Trade by shipping manufactured commodities from British industrial hubs directly to West African ports. These goods were deliberately chosen to incentivise local rulers and middlemen to scale up warfare and raids to capture more people. •Weapons and Gunpowder: Massive quantities of firearms from Birmingham and gunpowder from Lancaster were traded to specific African kingdoms, drastically escalating interethnic warfare and regional instability. • Luxury Commodities: British textiles, Manchester cottons, brassware, and glass beads imported from Europe were used as direct currency to purchase human beings. 3. Royal and State-Sponsored Monopolies The British state actively institutionalised human trafficking as national policy. British monarchs, including Charles II and James II, chartered the Royal African Company (RAC) in 1672. Led and funded by the royal family, politicians, and early financiers of the Bank of England, the RAC held a legal monopoly over British trade along the West African coast, branding captive Africans with the company's initials ("DY" for Duke of York). 4. Port City Operations and Logistics Wealthy merchants and ship captains based out of major British ports—primarily Liverpool, London, and Bristol—outfitted thousands of highly specialised vessels. These ships sailed to Africa, anchored near coastal factories or traded directly from the decks with African middlemen, loaded human cargo under horrific conditions, and executed the deadly "Middle Passage" to colonies in the Americas. The British slave trade was legally banned by Parliament via the Slave Trade Act in 1807, though ownership of enslaved people in British colonies remained legal until the Slavery Abolition Act of 1833. If you want to explore this further, let me know if you would like to look closer at: • The specific African kingdoms that partnered with or resisted British traders • How the profits from the trade fuelled the British Industrial Revolution • The conditions faced by captives inside the coastal slave forts

On the eleventh of June, 1560, inside the walls of Edinburgh Castle, the woman who had been holding Scotland upright stopped breathing — and the country she had given everything to was never the same again. She was not a Scot by birth. Marie de Guise came out of one of the hardest and most ambitious houses in France, and she landed on this coast as the young wife of James V. The years that followed took nearly everything from her. Two baby sons died within days of one another. Then her husband was gone as well, and she was left in a foreign country with a newborn daughter, a girl named Mary who was Queen of Scots before she had lived a full week. Another woman would have taken ship for France and never looked back. Marie did not. She took this cold, quarrelsome, beautiful place as her own cause, and she would not put it down. She ruled as Queen Regent with a mind her opponents could never get out in front of and a stubbornness that neither John Knox nor the Protestant Lords of the Congregation ever managed to break. When English warships closed the Firth of Forth and the reformers rose with English backing, she reached for the Auld Alliance and brought French soldiers over the water to hold Edinburgh and keep Scotland's independence whole. She understood that her daughter's crown and the sovereignty of this country were one and the same, and she spent every year of her regency defending both. By the last weeks, the sickness the records call dropsy had taken her speech and clouded her thinking. She set down her will on the eighth of June. Three days later she was dead, still inside the castle walls, still holding what was left to hold. They wrapped her body in lead and kept it in Edinburgh Castle for months, because the country was too broken, too far into the fire of the Reformation, to allow her even a proper mourning. When she was finally carried out it happened at midnight. Quietly. In secret. Put aboard a ship for France like something Scotland was ashamed to be seen with. What ended that night was far more than a regency. The Auld Alliance ended with her. The Reformation came through the gate she had been standing in. Scotland became a different country in the silence she left behind. If your line runs back through the clans and families of those years, some piece of your own story is standing there because this woman refused to go home. She held the line until there was nothing left to hold it with, and history has never quite paid her what it owes.

You have no idea how scary it was waiting for that vote. Because the precedent would have overturned the UN Charter and the jus cogens status of self determination in international law and rubber stamped the new colonialism. Western Sahara was the test case. Russia saved international law itself. If it had not, that would have been game over for us and so many other occupied nations. A friend in Geneva who works for this right for his own people and had not realised the vote had taken place - and the resolution was vetoed - was in tears of relief when I told him the next day. They’ll try again but give bern watching this ploy in development for a year - and it started well before that. It should take some time before they can try it again using another case.
