Today marks UN drowning prevention day, do one thing today, and learn how to stay safe around the water.
In 2021 there were 277 accidental drownings in the UK. 83% of those were men. If you see someone in trouble, make the right call and call 999 #respectthewater #BeWaterAware

The sooner we can find you, the quicker we can help. Using @what3words to tell us your exact location could make all the difference. Signs have been installed around Stanborough Lakes so that when you call 999 you know exactly where you are. #UNDrowningPreventionDay
What a powerful image! The lifesaving star! Float to live!

Fight your instinct to jump in and help. Stay on land and make the right call:
CALL 999 and ask for fire & rescue inland or coastguard at the coast
TELL them to float on their back
THROW them something that floats

Being drunk around rivers, lakes, and other bodies of water increases the likelihood that you might accidentally fall in or feel pressured to jump in, putting your life at risk #BeWaterAware
Day 6 of our Be Water Aware Campaign we want to ensure people enjoy the water in Hertfordshire in a safe and enjoyable way. Life saving equipment should never be tampered with, as you never know when it could save a life! #BeWaterAware #RespectTheWater @HFRS @NFCC_FireChiefs
