Oh Nige @Nigel_Farage 💥 what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive …
Nigel Farage’s story about why he didn’t attend the Budget is unravelling. Again.
It turns out that he never put in a card to reserve his seat in the first place. All cards are dated and you have to be there for Prayers at the start of business to keep your seat. It’s called a “Prayer Card”. First come first served and people queue up from before 8am on Budget Day to be allowed in the Chamber of the House of Commons.
He, but more likely a colleague, put in a card for him. (Not allowed.) And more than that, it wasn’t the current day’s date.
So the Doorkeepers who mind the Chamber and check the cards removed it. It wasn’t valid.
So his story that another MP removed it and he didn’t want to get into an argument is wrong.
He just couldn’t be arsed to put it in for himself.

Aren’t you the guy who was jailed for beating up a woman, and then downplayed it as a ‘teenage indiscretion’? How on earth do you think you can lecture anyone on this?
I was right there in the Chamber - you can see me. Fact.
I saw Farage put his hands on @CarolineVoaden to shove her out the way. Fact.
Caroline shrieked in shock. Fact.
No physical altercation is featured in the clip that is circulating - it happened in the seconds before. Fact.
Caroline reported this to the Speaker and Sergeant-at-Arms at the time. Fact.
Caroline then got on with her job because she hasn’t got time for this shit. Fact.
I’ve tried to find myself in the video because I remember this pretty clearly.
I think I’m one row back just out of shot on the left of the screen.
It’s completely beyond me how and why Caroline has presented herself as the victim here. She was bloody rude and really quite confrontational and she did it for no other reason than Nigel is Nigel and she wanted to give him a piece of her mind.
Anything other than it being a bit of a rush and a squeeze because of the occasion is nonsense.
From what I remember Caroline was both the instigator and the aggressor.

There are 650 MPs in Parliament. Yet the one MP chosen by @UKLabour to Chair the Bill Committee for the controversial, dangerous and dismally bad draft legislation, the Conversion Practices Bill, is Alex Barros-Curtis. Until July 2024, when Alex was given a very safe Labour seat in Cardiff, he was the Head of the Labour Party's Governance and Legal Unit in London. This was a department set up to investigate complaints against members of the Labour Party. Complaints of antisemitism, Islamophobia, abuse, and of course latterly, mostly women holding legally-protected 'Gender Critical' (sex realist) beliefs. Alex oversaw the investigation of hundreds of members who liked or tweeted gender critical or feminist views. I was one of them. He investigated me, as a sitting Labour MP, for 13 months.
13 months to 'investigate' one like of one tweet. I had a great lawyer, one of the names we're all now familiar with, and I had to crowdfund to pay for his (excellent) work.
They first tried in 2020. But the screenshots crudely attached to that passive aggressive, threatening-sounding email from LP admin staff were so risible that I replied that it was too ridiculous for me to waste my precious time on. They left it. Years of Starmer bumbling and stuttering through interviews about whether he had spoken to me, whether he supported me, etc followed. My feminist sins continued apace.
And then I 'liked' a tweet by my GC comedian friend @Glinner. He had mocked Eddie'Suzy' for comparing his choice to wear traditional women's clothing, fake plastic breasts and nails, to those being persecuted by the Nazis during WWII. I found his sarcasm, as a award-winning comedy writer in the face of such offensive narcissism amusing and so 'liked' it. I found it absurd and obscene that Izzard, an extremely privileged and wealthy man, who openly changed his 'gender' at will, should write himself into history falseley as someone who would have been oppressed due to a circumstance beyond his control. We all know the groups who were tortured, starved and killed...
There is obviously more to my story, I will tell it all, it's just one chapter of the years of spiteful abusive and bullying practices meted out to me by the Labour Party managers. Not those who'd achieved office on merit, or even unexpectedly, but those in the club, often having failed to be elected themselves.
So Barros-Curtis who we were repeatedly told led 'the many *independent* inquiries into women members and MPs like me, now often stands as a trans-rights activist on the Labour backbenches. He has also been gifted the role of Chair of this Committee and is a huge supporter of this Bill. And I am not a part of the Bill Committee, although plenty of TRA MPs are. Does that sound like the democratic scrutiny of legislation to you?
Interesting article given the current focus on the Kings visit to the Caribbean and Guyana My great-grandfather was a slave trader. I am not ashamed

Yes, Joey. She’s a democratically elected British MP, a former council leader, and she’s wearing a hijab.
Which part of that do you find so difficult to accept?
Her politics are fair game.
Her religion and her clothes are not.

Men shouldn't be in women's and girls' changing rooms, period. There is no test in existence to determine whether a man is or is not a threat to women before he's committed an assault. Innumerable men who claim to be women have sexually assaulted women. A simple Google search will give you the names and histories.
Men as a group pose a threat to women, as a group. The statistics don't change when the men identify as women. On the contrary, there are currently more trans-identified men in jail in the UK for sexual offences than there are among the general male prison population.
The reason this man was able to access unclothed women is that Planet Fitness thought it was progressive to let men into women's single-sex spaces. Women have been warning for years that women and girls would be harmed if corporations and institutions decided to placate the trans lobby and admit men to changing rooms and public bathrooms. These sexual assaults were entirely preventable. I repeat: I hope the women who've been assaulted sue.

This needs a lead from politicians. They need to be crystal clear about the law and to tell public bodies like NHS Trust after NHS Trust that are unlawfully discriminating against women by placing male demands for access to their spaces over their needs that it has to stop.
Excl: Transgender rights activists are spreading misinformation about guidance that protects single-sex spaces by claiming it erodes the rights of trans people, the equalities regulator has said.
Mary-Ann Stephenson, the chair of the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC), said criticism of its updated code of practice had made the “real alarm” felt by trans people worse by wrongly suggesting they had lost protections or would face routine sex checks.
Stephenson said women had also been affected by not having access to single-sex spaces. She said: “Women who believe that their right to privacy, dignity or safety have not been properly protected deserve to have those concerns taken seriously too.”

Wind farms paid £1.5bn to switch off — and the bill is rising <~~~ i am fed up of paying for this on my bills and we need to decouple from Gas. Wales has the highest standing charges in the UK which is ridiculous given the infrastructure hosted there @MartinSLewis @g__j

I listened to Ed Davey on the @BBCr4today this morning, and frankly, I think he missed the point.
The idea that we're keeping the triple lock to help millennials is at best for the birds, and at worst downright insulting. I say that as a millennial.
The case for the triple lock is a worthy one - stopping pensioner poverty. I want that as much as anyone. But pensioners are now less likely to be in poverty than children or working age adults.
We talk about fairness, yet our answer is to give the same increase to every pensioner, treating the one choosing between heating and eating exactly the same as the one with millions in the bank. I can see no moral or fiscal case for above inflation rises for millionaires.
That money should go where it's needed most - to everyone in poverty, not just one group. It could help fund free personal care, a policy that would disproportionately benefit older people.
Ed is right that we shouldn't pit one generation against another. But intergenerational inequality is already one of the defining injustices of our time, and this would further entrench it. Worse, it gaslights an entire generation into believing it's for our benefit.
Telling millennials we're keeping the triple lock to help us in 30 years' time is nonsense. We're on course to be the first generation worse off than our parents. We're locked out of the housing market, paying higher taxes, repaying student loans that never seem to shrink, and putting off having children because of the cost of living.
I joined this party because I care about fairness and tackling inequality, and that has to include inequality between generations.
This line, and this decision, fails on both counts. Ed needs to think again.

Farms are holding back on reservoirs and other resilience work because it would push the value over the inheritance tax threshold. That’s not planning for the next generation – that’s being forced to choose between the farm surviving the drought or surviving the tax. Scrap the family farm tax in the Budget. In fact, scrap inheritance tax for all.
hey @WhichUK can you please investigate multiple breaches of UK law by @SklumLoveDesign particularly in relation to bundling orders without consent and breaches of 14 day refund rules. Facebook documents multiple and repeated breaches
the car sales business is clearly full of misogyny. Walking into @LookersGroup %Chester not one of the sales team (no customers there) bothered to get up from their desk when i asked about ex demo @KiaUK EV3 for sale. Complete contrast with @MINIUK in Llandudno Junction
who could not have been more helpful and arranged a test drive on the spot. Sadly the Mini doesn’t have the range I need but I will walk over hot coals before ever walking into an @LookersGroup showroom again and they missed out on guaranteed sale.
I have now sourced one 100 miles away from a @KiaUK dealer who are interested in selling their cars rather than having them sitting on the forecourt unlike @LookersGroup who clearly enjoy looking at them rather than selling them (as the number on the front clearly show)
RIP #dollyparton a female icon fabulous talent and to me a feminist succeeding in an era which constantly put women down. Her business acumen philanthropy and talent will live on in her music
